he is too worried with getting his first goal, and he plays better with another striker, how can you have a five foot high player in a sole striking role...

He's so hard working, despite not getting on the pitch against Qatar, after the game spent a good 30 minutes doing laps in 35c heat, then came over and talked with th fans, signed autographs etc, I just hope that Pim plays two upfront one day

Sadly he has a worried look all the time. Just needs to relax and surely the goal will come . Mind you after Kennedy and McDonald what other options do we have.

Any striker down on confidence will struggle to score and that is what is happening here. Last night was a perfect example where he was put in the box and on goal but rushed a finish he would usually slot home in a Celtic shirt. I get the feeling however once that first goal goes in there will be many more to follow. In regards to options perhaps last night was a good chance to look at goalscoring options such as; Holman, Carle, Simon and Djite. Given time and Caps I think Djite and Simon could be a very succesful pair. BTW DOC Scotty Mac is 5ft 8" and Wayne Rooney is 5ft 10"......... food for thought.

do u think he is also getting a bit selfish? last night he tried to take on the last defender and have a shot when kewell was free on his left, should of passed the ball

there is more to being a striker then just scoring goals

Hey - careful, Celtic are an attacking side and play two upfront, Australia almost always play one upfront, even against Qatar. I know we have been undefeated and haven't conceded but we haven't played well against second rate opposition, sure go to Japan and play for a draw but we were very very lucky to beat Bahrain

rooney never plays in a lone striking role, either with another up front with him or wide right in a front 3..

ok then smart ass torres, or keane both played as lone strikers........ my point was height has nothing to do with being a good striker partner or not!!

yes but torres or keane, at liverpool for keane, had gerrard always pushing up next to them, mcdonald is used to playing with another striker who he can feed off and this is when he is most effective, jvoh and mcdonald are the best pairing in the spl as they are the classic short man tall man combination and if verbeek ever wanted to play a 4-4-2 kennedy and mcdonald would have a field day

the point i'm getting at is that mcdonald was very isolated as the midfielders were not busting there balls to help him out in attack, was a very flat display from australia..

The problem is Australia play a style that is much slower to what he is used to at Celtic.
Because of this whenever he gets the ball for Australia there are already 4-5 defenders behind him.
