Australia qualify for 2010 World Cup Finals
The Socceroos have qualified for the 2010 World Cup Finals after drawing 0-0 with Qatar in Doha this morning.
Pim Verbeek's team put in a workmanlike performance to grab the solitary point that was needed to confirm a place in the World Cup Finals.
Harry Kewell was the pick of the Aussie. Kewell was outstanding on the night demonstrating he is in his best form for several years.
Australia has qualified with 2 games up it sleeve and remains undefeated in the Asian qualifiers. The match was a complete contrast to Australia's qualification for the 2006 World Cup Finals in which the Socceroos overcame Uruguay in a famous penalty shootout.

Not the hype of the last campaign, but it feels very good to know we are on our way again.
Another chance to build support for our game.

Not a lot of hype but the reality of gaining qualification based on a fair set of rules is quite satisfying, now I have to start my planning in earnest...

I hope for the final two games at home, Pim allows a bit more freedom going forward. We have qualified, well done. Now use the last two games to turn it on!

Good to see them qualify but best to keep feet on the ground and no need for stupid comments like the guy reporting on Foxpsorts News that by the time the venue for the 2012 tournament is announced Australia could be world champions! - not likely mate.

Re: Australia qualify for 2010 World Cup Finals
Craig Foster really gets on my nerves in regards to the current Aussie team, complaining about the style of game. Maybe Pim is getting the best out of the squad we have. We are not blessed with an abundance of world class strikers nor do we have a true "number 10" in the squad. Pim has done well given the squad and the huge travel load we operate under.
Reality is from a financial and promotional level we need to qualify for every World Cup. The building for the future has to occur at the same time.
Fozzie we can't play like your beloved Barca so leave the team alone.

Maybe but it won't stop him and others in the AFL from going on an all expenses paid trip to "study" the event.Kouklo Mou wrote:Demetriou spewing

Bosnich's commenst on Fox were spot on. We don't have an abundance of players to entertain the likes of Murray and Foster whilst they wear their turtle-neck jumpers, sipping the finest cognac and discussing the latest in socio-politics.ozzie owl wrote:Craig Foster really gets on my nerves in regards to the current Aussie team, complaining about the style of game.
