Why would changeling and ecky need the sasi girls to post on here to find out what's going on?
Changeling is in the same club squad as 5 of them, and both her and ecky have many as 'friends' on facebook.
Re 'older'/'experienced' players -
Neits is there as an assistant to KM.
Victoria was there until she did her ACL.
Emma W is a full scholarship holder.
Paps, Chi, Loza, Greta etc are all involved to some extent, even though they are not scholarship holders.
It's not like they have completely excluded anyone over the age of 20!

well im obviously not needed... haha
i havent actually paid my fees yet... maybe you'd notice me more if i was at another club? haha

and it can be easily arranged that i dont show up on sundays... at least then i can have a big saturday night :D

HOWEVER. talking about whether or not i am or am not going to turn up to training, or a game for that matter, isnt really relevant to thinking up ideas about how to best save womens soccer, unless im really that great.
which im not.
at all.

See you at training tonight then c_ling?
You and the rest of the girls can share your wisdom and experience with the U11s (without corrupting them please!) as they will be joining you for the warm up!

I think that at all levels older and more eperienced teams and players should make some time to work with the next generation of girls coming through - whether it is U11s spending 10-15 mins with a senior or older junior team at a club training session, ex-sasi and or national players getting involved to some extent with the next gen sasi, or younger state/sasi players training with the likes of AU occasionally.
It's a start, and it wouldn't have to impose too much on training etc for anyone. Need to get the 'older/experienced' and 'ex' players staying involved and giving more back to the game.

Also it's good to see dev squads starting at earlier ages these days - but it could be even earlier really. If bad habits are not corrected early on, it is really hard to get them out of a players game once they get older.

uh. i might have to rock up late and miss the warm up...
LOL joking.
bring on the under 11s. we should have a buddy system, where every prems player has a little buddy in a younger age group... cuz really, our seniors have nothing to do with the juniors!
and just for you pvfc, ill try not to complain too much until the under 11s have gone off to their own training!

but someone said that it is a players choice, because they have the choice to turn down a full scholarship.

my question is.. WHY the F would i player go out there then!?

yeah, i think the ones that do go out to trial are generally thought of, from their coaches perspective as players that have a lot of potential and would like to go further with their football.
and from there on they would be able to make up their mind...
like going out to sasi, its a whole new level and then players are able to decide if they want it.

aaand if a player turned down a full scholarship, i dont know why, maybe a life changing experience, and sudden loss of interest. man i could write an essay on this $hit

it's easy to see why a player would turn it down. you're really focused and driven in this sport, it's great (and annoying aha)
not everyone else is. some players just want to play club
some don't want to make it that far
so they could turn it down
like i said earlier, i would.

HI all
I disagree with the initial post, I think womens football has never been stronger with a W league televised on the ABC each week and more players than we have clubs and coaches to accommodate. I am a new coach who has switched from boys football and I don't think it matters if coaches are male or female as long as they are good and follow the national coaching curriculum, how you can say this is behind Basketball is beyond me, the only thing I would like to see changed is for a few more womens games played as curtain raisers to A or superleague games so more spectators can see our games.

Of course you can turn anything down...... but if you get a full scholarship why would you turn it down if its going to help you get what you want....it was just a question. because ultimately, they players do have a choice then.
When asked, a representative from the FFSA stated that the playing rules do not preclude any SASI player from playing for a club (including full scholarship holders). It was a SASI "rule"and has no bearing on the women's competition.

Under the same query, SASI confirmed that full scholarship holders are "strongly encouraged" to follow the SASI edict of not playing for club, and GK's only playing in goals. That said, a SASI GK played outfield in a club match for a short time without any repercussions for her club but another full scholarship holder wasn't "allowed" to play GK to help her club out.

Too right Drusetta. Some clubs just count MUCH more than others as far as SASI is concerned.

changeling- I think you have a great idea here- I wonder how many clubs do this- there seems to be somewhat of a disconnect between the senior and junior programs. I think a buddy system, as you suggest, would go a long way toward growing the sport and keeping young girls in the game. But I suppose this might be more appropriate for a new thread...

yeah to be honest i dont know of any clubs that do this!
i think for it to work you'd need the seniors to be really committed, like its all well and good helping out the juniors at training but for a real buddy system i think the seniors would need to get out to a game every now and then, which i think is where the issue would arise...

the juniors play really early, and i dont think theres many senior players out there who would be willing to go out and watch U11s play at 8.30am...
thats just my opinion though. i guess going out to watch one or two games during the season would be better than nothing, especially if the buddy system was going to involve training sessions once a week or once a fortnight...

it a good idea. but yeah, a lot of seniors just wouldn't be committed enough for it.

haha yeah.
maybe SAWSA/FFSA should consider making the U11s games later, so its like, before the prems games. then senior players can watch the juniors, and then the juniors can hang around to watch the seniors.

not that the idea would ever take off... haha
but i think it would do a lot to encourage younger players to stay in the game, especially if they can see what level to aim for!

but because of the parents i htink

haha yeah pretty much.
though i dont think the parents would complain about the games being later haha!

and the fact that theres generally different teams in juniors as compared to seniors!

haha so maybe if it only on like 2 or 3 games a year, when the U11s are playing at the same ground as their prems, which im guessing would usually be home games!

haha yeah. that could work .surely parent's could hang around for one extra game like 2/3 times a year
give em enough notice, so it doesn't screw up any plans hopefully

yeah thats it.
i mean, if they want they're kids to keep playing sports and stuff...
cuz like, if they dont hang around, and they're kids suddenly lose interest cuz they dont know what they've got to aim for... then i guess its fully on them. haha

sorry to guilt trip any parents out there... haha
