Yes they cancelled the game on the thursday because Sunday may have been 32.

um most do it on the day or at least the day before not three or four days before.

hahaha the funny thing is im pretty sure we played in similar weather for the first round of the season and we only got drinks breaks after both coaches requisted it as the players needed to keep themselves hydrated

i myself, and im sure a number of people who are putting there opinions forward, are in no way claiming to be able to do ''these'' peoples jobs better. whatever there job is. i just don't see why ''these'' people nominate themselves into such positions of responsibility if they aren't willing to dignify the role with the respect it, and also womens soccer, deserves. if ''these'' people aren't going to execute these positions of so called power with care and thoughtfulness towards the game, players, coaches, clubs and the like, then why the hell are they taking on that responsibility?

this goes far beyond the syringe issue, bad lighting and whatever else was windged about in this thread.

have there been other people willing to do what wendy does?

Mate I am sure stacks of people who are in danger of losing their jobs would jump at the chance to get a well paid job at the FFSA.

Are people on here really so selfish as to say they wouldnt step up and help out? They are actually willing to sit and complain about people not doing their jobs as they feel they should be done?

No ones telling you to go and do their job for them... but maybe, as Ecky has stated several times, things arent as simple as everyone seems to think they are. Maybe, just maybe, they at the FFSA have slightly bigger issues that need to be dealt with before they can worry about the state of a ground that has a few games played on it a year, no matter how undesirable it is for us players.

And yes, im sure theres plenty of people who would be willing to step up and do what wendy does, but thats not saying they'd address all the issues that have been mentioned on here...

seriously, i think everyones agreed that the pitch is less than satisfactory. so i think its time we agree to disagree about what should be done?
we've established that its "not our job" to change anything. No ones expecting that it is, im sure FFSA have been notified about the issues anyway.

1) the pitch is crap, well duh
2) complaining about it on here isn't going to fix it.
3) don't say things are easy when they might just be slightly more difficult than you think, unless you like to come off as ignorant jerks.
4) end of discussion i think. unless you can come up with a legit, half decent, intelligent argument against that.

Just to clear things up, as no1 else would... i sent an email off to FFSA regarding the issues that have been discussed on here... Heres the response regarding the use of Santos.

"In regards to Santos Stadium FFSA are hiring this stadium for the games of the rounds and also the Adelaide Airport Premier Division Cup-Semi Finals. On each occasion that we use this venue it will cost FFSA approximate $700.00, so as you would appreciate we currently use SAWSA Park 5 nights a week, not including the times it is used on Sunday, so at minimum to use Santos Stadium we would be paying $3500 per week for at least 40 weeks, a total cost of $140,000.00. A cost that we couldn’t even consider. Not withstanding this, Santos Stadium is being used by a number of other groups including athletics, SASI boys and girls and other user groups, so the number of nights that we would need this facility is not possible."

Enjoy.
Issue closed?
yes.

Oh and for the record, FFSA and SAWSA are apparently having discussions about further still improving the lighting to make the SAWSA grounds more accommodating.

So yes, things are being done.

Smooth work _changeling_!!!

I wish on this forum it was much more about football and much less about bitching! Oh well, I guess we all bitch sometimes but seriously...the best post and stuff is when we find out about games, who's playing where, who's playing well and who's not, how the goals came about etc. I look forward to see the other cup games this week!

haha thanks :)
i tend to agree. probably the main reason i decided to send the email to FFSA in the first place! I mean, yes the grounds and stuff are football related, but there is only so much you can say about them!

so yes, are there any other cup games coming up this week? other than the cumby campbelltown one that is?

Fair enough peoples however, when things aren't quite right people will chase shadows (real or perceived)

I've been around the traps for many years and on this forum too and there has been a slow but ever increasing wave of discontent with where the game is at and even though we get all the stats trotted out about how the game is growing, here in S.A. its just surviving. Even in the hey day of the sport, we never quite got the game to where it should have been.

I think the boat has sailed on this issue and we need to be ready to catch the next wave of success when it comes by. This also means, new heads around the place who for what ever reason did not capitalise on the women's soccer scene successes of a few years back.

Some of the decisions of late have been disastrous and people are leaving the game....Players, coaches, volunteers etc. Some very notable people who have had enough. Those players and coaches who remain (some) are getting thrashed and starting to show signs of walking away.

I put this to the forumites, where to for the game? What do you want it to be and what needs to be done to raise the profile and standing in sporting circles. Up there with women’s' netball and basketball!!

Great effort to email and follow up this subject with FFSA. The only point I would make is for me I would not request or want the FFSA to utilise Santos for all training sessions etc. May thought would be for the FFSA to utilse this staddium only for games which should reduce the cost considerably.

The other point is as part a member of the FFSA as all women's teams are now why could the FFSA also look at playing night games at other venues like, Para Hills, Modbury and any other ground that have good lights. Still promotes the game and also could give a neuturaly ground sometimes for the semi finals of the cup. Would also be interseting to see how much Hindmarsh would be? Again we are part of the FFSA and therefore this ground should be available to the owns / managers/ organisors of the competition i would think?

para hills/modbury are not central locations. maybe that's why they don't use them
that's part of why they use sawsa.

ecky_8.

Para hills and Modbury were for me only being used as an example Sturt, Cumby or Panther any ground would do as long as the lights are up to stratch. I would even go as far as to seek information on the pitches which I think Coments use on West Terrace (used at one stage by postel) The lights look good and the ground appears good.

SAWSA Park should be used by SASI or whoever trainers there as a training ground. I am trying to think of a place for games only. Maybe investing in new lights at SAWSA Park is the answer, but it appears there maybe more to this area than just lights.

The FFSA could put out a call to all teams to nominate their grounds for use by the state and sasi teams for night games. Then someone or some peole should view the ground, lights and facilties if up to a good standard then make them part of a roster for games.

After all we don't want to lose a player to injury if the lights or grounds aren't up to a good standard do we?

Just my thoughts and at least the subject is being talked about and ideas presented for people to think about which is good.

Julian

i was just throwing out suggestions as to why they wouldnt use those pitches. they are good pitches though. i'd much prefer them to sawsa, except having to drive out to them if i was living down south, but it wouldn't be very often, so it could work, yeah. para hills is a busy ground though, idk much about modbury haven't been there in years.

on sawsa. the lights there are fine, actually sawsa's lights are really good on the main pitch. it's the pitch and the unfortunate location that is of concern.

sawsa is used by the state/development and schoolgirl teams only right?

its a good idea. just the question is, can sawsa utilise the grounds around the state?

"The most pressing issue facing the whole sport of football is the lack of facilities. To give you some idea of how significant this is of an issue I have been meeting with all of the FFSA Clubs and associations and the number one concern that they have highlighted is the lack of facilities. Some clubs that predominately conduct men’s and boys have requested to use the SAWSA Grounds, with the Collegiate League using the ground to conduct their night fixtures. So the facility that is used for girls and women’s football is in great demand."

Just a bit more from FFSA on the issue of pitches :)
