anybody can beat anybody on a particular day. this is what i meant by its won on the day. i know a cup contest has rounds and stages

sturt mightve had a bad day against metro, one bad day...and despite being the most consistent team in the league contest, which requires playing everyteam, at every venue, they don't win the cup

why dont you ask yourself this
if metro were good enough to win the cup, why weren't they good enough to win the league, or even come close?
if portsmouth, who came no where near winning the english premier league last year, won the cup, why didnt they win the league?

because they managed to beat the teams they had to beat on the day.

(by the way, sturt drew 0:0 with metro then lost on penalties...so its not like they wern't close to winning the cup)

i just dont agree with you comparing one with the other and saying that one shows a better team moreso than the other.

they're both titles that all the teams fight for.

sturt won the league, well done.
metro won the cup, well done.

winning the cup final doesnt mean you are the best team through out the year - it means you are the best team on the day. That isnt taking anything away from Metro or Sturt - it basically highlights in the big matches Metro can "bring it".
A lot of teams cant do that -

winning the league - highlights that week in week out you continuously kept fighting and didnt give up. you played to the best of your ability and didnt play as individuals - you played as a "TEAM".

A message i received last night stated thats what made Fulham - the fact that it didnt matter who you were or who you liked/disliked, we played as a team - and thats why fulham were successful for so many years.


winning the league/cup is an honour in itself - winning both in one year is an acheivement only the best can do.

winning it with decent ref's is even better hahaha
