Ribery for Buffon at Juve?
There are reports that Juventus are considering exchanging Gigi Buffon for Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.
The Bianconeri have admitted that they would have to consider a big-money approach for Azzurri shot-stopper Buffon.
And Juve are looking to strengthen their midfield in the summer before next season's Scudetto bid, especially given Pavel Nedved's retirement.
According to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, the Bianconeri are weighing up the merits of exchanging Buffon for French international Ribery.
Bayern are looking for a goalkeeper to replace the unconvincing Michael Rensing, who has struggled to fill Oliver Khan's boots.
Juve general manager Jean-Claude Blanc is known to rate Ribery very highly and it would be a popular acquisition with the French community at Vinovo.
However, Werder Bremen star Diego remains Juventus' primary transfer objective for the summer.

Absolutely No way Manninger is as good as Buffon!
Buffon has performed at the highest level for Juve for a decade now, Manninger had a good 10-15 games this season.
Agree that Ribery should be our number one target but not at the expense of Gigi!

Can guarantee that Buffon will save Juve 4-5 points in this late stage of the season.
Had a pretty serious injury, will take time to get back to his best.
With a full pre-season under his belt we will be able to see the Gigi of old.

form is temporary, class is permanent
get rid of Gigi and you'll eventually be punished for it.
Remember Manninger's 'effort' against Ledesma?

Yeah, Gigi has been in poor form and Mannigher was in great form, we didn't miss Gigi much, so my thinking is cash in on Gigi and brink in Ribery as he will add a heal of a lot more then we would lose if Gigi left.Reg Deadman wrote:baggio15 did say "currently"

buffon is too much of an idol at Juve. It wouldn't be any different if juve were to swap del piero. they are too much of a figure to the club not to mention the backbone of the club. Mannigar is just a fill in keeper

It wouldn't surprise, all Juve fans remember the Zidane deal.WWJD wrote:buffon is too much of an idol at Juve. It wouldn't be any different if juve were to swap del piero. they are too much of a figure to the club not to mention the backbone of the club. Mannigar is just a fill in keeper
Best player in the world at the time for Thuram, Buffon & Nedved.

Re: Ribery for Buffon at Juve?
If a deal like the Zidane one were to happen again then I could forgive the club for getting rid of Gigi. But then again, he is Buffon, thus he is that damn good.
Re: Ribery for Buffon at Juve?
There will be no deal because Ribery is not goin to Juve. After the season he's having it's either Spain's top two or one of the top English clubs. No disrespect to Juve, but it will take them a while to get back to what they used to be and to attract top talent. There's still whispers of CR7 heading to Madrid and then United to pursue Ribery.

and how do you think they'll get back to what they used to be?? Can only be done by signing players of Ribery's ilk, either that or drugging up the squad as they did in the 90s, although my suspicion is they still do that only it has no effect as all the other teams have caught up.messidona wrote:There will be no deal because Ribery is not goin to Juve. After the season he's having it's either Spain's top two or one of the top English clubs. No disrespect to Juve, but it will take them a while to get back to what they used to be and to attract top talent. There's still whispers of CR7 heading to Madrid and then United to pursue Ribery.
The rumour loses credibility given it was published by Tuttosport, no doubt a journo's idea of what Juve may do in June.
and one has to ask whether Buffon would even want to play in Germany.
Re: Ribery for Buffon at Juve?
Not sure about the drugging but i remember hearing a rumor that Edgar Davids was using Nandrolone...but i digress.Juve will need to start winning trophies again to attract the creme de la creme, a task which has been made harder given their recent tainted past.I'm not speaking for Ribery but if i was him i'd be thinking 'I'm one of the best players in the world atm and i need to start winning silverware, fast...where's my next destination'?.I'm sure they have ambitions of signing the best players in the world but do these players want to go to Juve?Laziale wrote:and how do you think they'll get back to what they used to be?? Ribery is class, hope Real Madrid can nab him. I really can't see him getting much game time at Barca, except if they sit Henry or Iniesta on the bench or they dont play with a defensive mid, either way there's going to be some bruised egos, he would slot perfectly on the right wing at Madrid, lets have it then.
