Bruce seems to have made all the right moves since he departed AUFC unlike his good mate Burns who seems to be gathering dust ...

Jason Culina expects some flair
JOHN TAYLOR MELBOURNE
March 27, 2009 12:30am
RENEGADE Jason Culina has promised his multi-million dollar Socceroos will turn on the attacking flair against travel weary Uzbekistan in Sydney next week and march boldly on towards the World Cup finals.
"It's now time we stepped it up a bit and played a more attacking type of football that will be exciting for the fans," said Culina, who will be the face of the A-League next season.
While Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek has preferred his top players continue to apply their craft overseas before the World Cup finals in South Africa next year, classy midfielder Culina is coming home to play for newcomers Gold Coast after almost 10 years abroad.
When quizzed yesterday if he may be putting his World Cup spot at risk by returning to Australia, he said: "I am not worrying about it too much at all. My focus is on my new club, to have a good season and, hopefully, win things with the Gold Coast and then we can worry about other things after that.
"The boys are a bit jealous. I can't wait to move back in a couple of months."
Still a regular with Dutch giant PSV Eindhoven, Culina believes the Australian public will see the Socceroos at their best on Wednesday at ANZ Stadium.
Uzbekistan plays Qatar at home on Saturday before travelling to Sydney. "It'a a terrible situation to be in but, luckily enough for us, we went about it very professionally and we got the job done every time (when faced with similar circumstances)," Culina said.
"Like I said, our preparation with away games like Japan and Bahrain was a little bit difficult. The circumstances were a little bit difficult and you can't go there expecting to win three and four nil and play entertaining football.
"When we went to Japan we played a very professional game and got the point we wanted.
"This time we have a few more days on the training track, more time to get over jet lag and go through the tactical things a lot better with Pim.
"We are a lot better prepared and we can go into the game playing a brand of football that we prefer to play. I am sure we'll be doing that (attacking) on Wednesday.
"With that extra preparation we're all very confident it will be a very good game and exciting for the fans and, hopefully, with a lot of goals."

Uzbekistan ready for Socceroos with win
08:04 AEST Sun Mar 29 2009
Uzbekistan warmed up for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Australia in Sydney in fine style with an emphatic 4-0 win over Qatar in Tashkent on Saturday.
The result kept alive the Uzbekis' slim hopes of reaching finals in South Africa in 2010, and lifted them off the bottom of Group A.
Striker Farhod Tajiev was the hero of the match scoring a hat-trick and Anvarjon Soliev added a fourth.
The hosts' chances were boosted by the 32nd-minute dismissal of Qatar defender Bilal Rajab for aggressive behaviour.
The hosts exploited their one-man advantage just two minutes later when Tadjiev netted the opener with a close-range header after Qatar 'keeper Mohamed Ahmed failed to clear Server Djeparov's inswinging corner.
Tadjiev made it 2-0 in first-half injury time, again with a header from Jasur Hasanov's precise left-handed cross.
Seven minutes after the break Tadjiev completed his hat-trick scoring with a header again from Timur Kapadze long cross.
Soliev netted their fourth in the 61st minute also with a header, lifting Uzbekistan into third spot with four points from five games above Bahrain and Qatar on goal difference.
In the other Group A match Japan beat Bahrain 1-0 to move into the top spot with 11 points, a point ahead of the Socceroos, who have a game in hand.
The two Asian group winners and the two group runners-up will automatically qualify for the World Cup finals.
The third-placed teams from each group will play a home-and-away play-off, with the winner advancing to the inter-confederation play-off with New Zealand
