Missing the point - its not that he is not playing with us its the straight out lie he gave.

Just be truthful and say you dont know what your intentions are yet or where u r going to play - simple.

Pontian 2 Lion 5

Disappointing day at the office for the eagles with too many players not ready for round 1.
Lion looked sharper rom the start and made it count with a nice free kick in the early stages to make it 1-0.
5 minutes later the Lion number 7 (who was best afield by a mile) literally walked past 3 players to slot the ball home and make it 2. To make things worse Lion made it 3 when a long throw wasn't dealt with properly and the shot was deflected past a wrong footed keeper. 10 Mins before half time Lion put the game beyond doubt with a 4th goal again from a poorly defended long throw and the 7 had his hat trick.
The Eagles came out sharper in the second half and tried to make the score a little more respectable and took advantage of some slack lion defending to make it 1-4. About 10 minutes later Lion made it 5 when a corner was put straight to an unmarked player who blasted home from 7 yards. Pontian then grabbed a late second to make it 2-5. Overall Lion looked decent and will probably be underestimated by a lot of teams this year

Where you watching the game or playing BWB? Ive seen your comments earlier in this topic and you seem to be at the defense of the keeper. From what I saw the keeper wasnt at fault for the goals, maybe could of done a little better but wasnt at fault. It looked like the Pontian players were playing at of position and you guys looked all over the shop. Lion looked sharper and yes the number 7 is a gun and will do well this year.

Terrible pitch how can you play football on that? Great for a long ball type of game but no the passing style that most ethnic type teams play. I dont think Pontians will be the whipping boys but it looks like a tougher and tighter league than last and early points are gold!

lol, any club is upset when a good player leaves to go to a rival club, just thought bigpond was a bit harsh to be bagging him about a phone call

should be cracker this week though gardens v downs a win to either side will set the season up nicely before easter, looking forward to this one!

Iv'e been told usc lion 5 - 1 pontians
but that is from mobile phone chinese whispers :D
final score was Pontians 2 - 5 USC Lion

bring back the big K definitely missed him in goals :(
Golden Eagle not playing this year?
Was told he wasn't required for this match after making himself available
As other posts have stated, keeper chosen wasn't at fault for goals, but to leave out a keeper of GE's calibre is a big call... not only a quality keeper but has also been an on-field leader at the club.... a club going through a "rebuilding" of their squad....

With the shortage of shot stoppers... is it premature to say LET THE BIDDING BEGIN for GE's services :?:

Bit dissapointing for the beach to lose their first game, with such a promising start to the game, its hard to say west beach were the better team when the grove scored 4 goals, imo the grove looked a bit surprised with the intensity of the game and the pace it was played, you could see after about 35 minutes some of the grove players looking a bit sluggish (it was fairly hot and no breeze).
First two goals to the grove came from west beach mistakes ball givin away at the half way line while the defence was pushed up, good ball through along the ground and the striker took his chances, well taken goals. I didn’t see the 3rd goal and didn’t ask any one how I was over it by that stage,
But west beach kept pushing scored a couple of goals a header from a corner then a through ball cut back and a nice tap in, then pushed to win the game having all the momentum but the grove had a free kick up the park and pushed numbers forward the goal coming shortly after but not directly from the free kick. the last couple of minutes were quite frantic with concecutive corners to west beach but couldn’t convert for another equlizer
End result dissapointing but the boys put in a good performance and shows promise for the rest of the year

Yes we weren't happy Ross left our club what club would be? he was Leading goal scorer for the League that year ?

We wished him luck & told him he was allways welcome back, no one ever questioned his character!

I haven't been avoiding the forum but its my first day in the office this week.

A's 3-2 :(
Really disappointing result for us. We had our chances and for only 20 mins we let it slip and conceeded 3 goals. A soft penalty to Burt which was there and he made the most of it but every other player would and should go down for it so no prolems with that. A new striker for them, cant remember his name scored two crackers. Our keeper only got to touch it about 3 times and all of those were to pick the ball out of the net. We had some good patches of play and created some good opportunities but didn't quite get the right shot on goal. Disappointing result but we weren't disappointed with how we played. At 3-2, Jonesy was through on goal, gets brought down with basically one on one with the keeper. Easy free kick (it was outside the box), probable red card (admitted by the referees coach assessing the referee and the Downs player after the game) but the ref called it play on. Sometimes you just need things to go your way and on Sunday they didn't. I couldnt pick to many of our guys who had a bad game either so on another day, the result could of been very different. Give credit to Downs, anyone that wrote them off this year is a :clown: as they moved the ball well and shut down well. Agars and Reeves are apparently on their way back there so they will be fighting for the title as always.

B's 1-0 :(
A disappointing display by our guys today. Had plenty of chances in the first half but didn't take them. Our forwards were well held but our midfield was strong particularly out wide. Defence was pretty solid to so we thought it might be a case of just waiting for the goal to come. With about 2-3 mins to go, a loose ball got played through and the Downs player scored 1v1 with our keeper. The boys were definately disappointed and training last night was intense so I would expect a big improvement this week.

C's 1-0 :(
The kids took the park against the experience of the Downs and I thought they did well. We had good possession but couldn't get the final pass together to set the forwards through. A silly mistake at the back with 10 mins to go cost us the goal. Downs used their experience well with Benny upfront having a good game for them. The boys learnt a lot and will be better for the run. Cheers to Graham in what was a game played in good spirits.

Well done to the Downs on their wins over the weekend. They still set the bench mark with how they do things and the facilities they have. Good to see Marooned, Bert and Alam Mottram again and good luck this year to all of them except when we meet at our ground later in the year.

What about Radford being body checked by Enis when he was thru to a certain one on one with the Keeper. He was the LAST Defender. Yeah the free kick awarded but not even a card. Maybe the Ref was leveling the ledger.

That should of been a yellow definately. It was fairly smart by Chris because he made it look accidential but if Tommy was past him, there was no why he would of caught him. Difference with Radford and Jonesy's is that Tom had to go around Chris, Paul was already past and through on goal.
