Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
Since a few people have asked me already..I thought i'd start a topic...
We are basically a bunch of friends who got together and wanted to play at the same club together.. The most local club was Saint Augustines Soccer Club.
So we went to the club and asked them if we can enter a seniors team at the club. They were kind enough to allow us eventhough they already had a seniors team..
there are now Saints Blacks (existing team)
and we are Saints Blues (new team)
In answer to someone elses question - we are not a Greek backed club. Saint Augustines are an Australian (multi-cultural) club - always will be..
But if your asking about the players in the new Blues team - well yes 95% of our squad have Greek backgrounds.
We will most likely be competing in Div 6 this yeae
Our players are from the following clubs:
Team:
Evan Anastasiadis (Ex-Macedonia Bs)
Anthony Bratis (Ex-Salisbury Florina Cs)
Tony Bratis (Ex-Salisbury Florina Cs)
Zac Bratis (Ex-Salisbury Florina Cs)
Diego Caruso (Ex-Enfield U17)
George Doulas (no previous club)
Evan Hanias (Ex Adelaide Olympic U19/23, Ex Salisbury Florina Cs)
Louie Hanias (Ex-Adelaide Olympic U19, Ex- Salisbury Florina Bs/Cs)
Michael Mazzone (Ex-Campbelltown)
Christos Michaels (no previous club)
Con Papadimitroulis (Ex- Adelaide Olympic, Ex-Adelaide Cobras)
Joachim Perriera (Ex- Ingle Farm Cs)
George Posnakidis (Ex- Enfield City U17s, Ex- Macedonia Bs)
Angleo Vlahodimos (Ex Angle Vale Bs)
Chris Vlahodimos (Ex Gawler Bs)
Sit - (Ex-Thailand Airfoce Team)
Coach - Jim Papadimitroulis
Assistant - George Sioutis

Be honest did you form a team so all those B's and C's players could finally play A's?
Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
These lads will surely be a team that will be up in the top Div's within the next few years. Good luck for the season.

Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
So Kanu has made it to seniors ?? Even if he had to form his own club to do so

Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
Thanks for the support guys...
To be fair, a few of us have not played for 2-3 years.. a couple have not played at all..
However most players are around 20-23yrs.. So if we stick together in years to come we can really play good soccer.. It may just take a while for the inexperienced players to adapt.
We had a friendly last week vs Macedonia.. It seemed like they played half their As and half their Bs... We went down 2-0. But hit the post 4 occasions.. Their goals were offside and keeper mistake.. But in all fairness they had the legs in the last 20 minutes...
I think we did okay in our first friendly.. especially vs div 3 team..
We will see how we go vs Gawler Div 4 this sunday..
and yes we are half st kilda half carlton supporters lol jk,
good luck to all teams in 2009 especially to the ones who have left messages of support.
thanks guys

Joe Mullen is an old St Augustines boy !
There was a St Augustines team in Division 6 of the SAASL in 2003 (they conceded 103 goals) and the name didn't reappear until 2008, once again in Division 6.

A group of mates that want to play together & instead of forming a new club that would just fold after the people who started running it loose interest & have no support
Instead You join a existing club & run a team from there !
Strengthing a proud exiting club with no headf*ks good facilities & support... WIN WIN congratulations SAINTS BLUES! & GOOD LUCK...

Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
Played with some of these boys last year at florina. Good bunch of lads.
Hopefully they will have an injury free season, and get some good results.
How's Evan Hanias, Saints Blues 09? Is he over his injury? Good keeper if he can stay injury free.
Good luck boys.

Thanks for your support.
Evan Hanias was a good goalkeeper.. At the age of 16 he made an appearance for Olympic first team.. and was there reserve keeper.
He is over injury however this season he wants to play on the field... - unfortunately lol.. But he is also a solid stopper

Im still dirty about Bratis getting his red card revoked in our game.
And where is Mimis? Not returning home?

Thats when a few of the Blues boys used to play for the saints prior florina... in 2005 we got the team promoted to div 4... Tony Bratis, Louie Hanias, Con Papadimitroulis, Evan Hanias all in the team.. you can see a few of them below.. We were gifted by an immigrant from Egypt "Mohamed Imbrahim" who came half way through the season and almost won top goal scorer..
In 2006 we had problems in preseason - changed 3 coaches... our first coach thought Mohamed Imbrahim was not good enough and forced him to leave. Later that year Mohamed was top goal scorer for Parafield Gardens Div 1.
When this decision occured - the players were disinterested and most of us left..
In 2009.. The Blues came back to finish some unfinished business!

Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
good to see a bunch of lads using the intitiative and starting a new team at an established club, I reckon i know a few boys in this side and if it is who i think it is would like to see them do very well. They will be too quick to stron and too skilled to struggle in Div 6, and as long as they can get some backing and follow through with what they started they should be able to attract pleanty of players and trophies!!
Good luck in 09 lads hope you go far!

Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
thank you very much outlaw...
i am overwhelmed at all the support we've been getting from well established clubs etc.
infact i was expecting criticism but everyone here are pretty well down to earth and i wish all the clubs a good year and a safe season!
Just to clear things up also... I have nothing against my old club Florina, neither do the other ex-florina players. Florina was a good club where their committee looked after the players very well..
Personally I left because of a coach.. The other boys were mates and wanted to play in the same team where they can all have a fair go..
So good luck to Florina as we still have some very good mates and memories at the club! WIN THE C's this year!!

SB09. that photo has put me off making a comeback at the SUJSC Div 6 , too young and fit for the likes of me...
Re: Who are the SAINTS BLUES???
Yeh 2006 was Mohamad's 1st year with our club, he scored 22-23 goals was just a awesome player that year.Saints Blues 09 wrote:our first coach thought Mohamed Imbrahim was not good enough and forced him to leave. Later that year Mohamed was top goal scorer for Parafield Gardens Div 1.
He was a unknown in Div.1 & he was able to play football, he just missed out on player of the year...
The next couple of years he wasn't the same player as other players, clubs & supporters found weakness & exploited them weekly...
As I've stated before on this forum before I make no excuses for his actions last Sunday,
but I understand what the bloke had to put up with weekly just to play the game he loved.
