Over the past few months most of what I heard was that the season would be more aligned to the A-League season, ie start earlier and have more rounds (although I have to admit this was always 'second hand' info).

So HH, what have you heard different, and is it from an 'official' source?
If it's true then a 'failure' of the W-League after just one season (perceived or real) is the last thing the women's game needs at the moment.

What are you talking about here??? Are you saying that there is gonna be no wleague??? or some news about Ad United or what? I was told that soon there will be trials...second hand info too though pvfc.

MB will start again from scratch. That's what he's been telling clubs. Hence trials and long "pre season" this time around.

48 hours after the most action-packed grand final in A-League history owner Nick Bianco has admitted to meeting Australian football boss Ben Buckley about the financial future of the club.

Bianco voiced concerns to Buckley on the well-being of the club in light of the global financial crisis.

But the South Australian building tycoon has declared he will not sell the club -- but wants to reduce the size of his investment.

"FFA chief executive Ben Buckley has held discussions with Adelaide United about Mr Bianco's wish to reduce his investment in Adelaide and discussions are ongoing," an FFA spokesperson said yesterday.

It's understood the FFA has an action plan ready should Bianco relinquish ownership.

The FFA in 2006 ran Perth Glory when owner Nick Tana stepped down. Glory eventually attracted new investors almost a year later.

"Additional investors are always welcome. They will value-add into Adelaide United and be a part of a very successful organisation," Bianco said.

"It is a great club, I enjoy it and I will always be involved with Adelaide United."

Bianco became sole owner in 2006 after South Australian business icon Gordon Pickard agreed to an amicable deal.

Italian-born Bianco has poured million of dollars into United in the past three years without any returns.

This is despite Adelaide winning an estimated $1.12 million in prizemoney from the AFC Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup last year.

United won nearly $2.8 million from the two tournaments but must divide the winnings with the FFA and other A-League clubs.

The club also earned an estimated $1.6 million in transfer fees for Bruce Djite, Nathan Burns and Sasa Ognenovski over the past 12 months.

Meanwhile, the lights were on but not many were home for United yesterday.

Adelaide's greatest-ever squad not to win any prizes was dismantled at an alarming pace when Mad Monday was called off because many of the players were missing.

Adelaide's national youth team - another grand final runner-up - was also put in mothballs along with the Lady Reds, who claimed the wooden spoon in the inaugural W-League.

But the entire senior squad, apart from Ognenovski and Isyan Erdogan, decided to say adios on Sunday night rather than attend the traditional post-season celebration gathering yesterday.

Ognenovski will today join new club Seongnam Ilhwa and Erdogan returned to Victoria after signing for Hume City.

Adelaide needs to replace at least nine members of last season's 23-man squad after the club officially confirmed Daniel Beltrame's retirement and Erdogan's release yesterday.

But the relative success of the Reds in the past 11 months is bound to cause more heartache as coach Aurelio Vidmar prepares for the Reds for a new era. Travis Dodd, Lucas Pantelis and Robert Cornthwaite are the only survivors from John Kosmina's reign.

Grand final standout Gyawe Jonas Salley, who kept Costa Rican import Carlos Hernandez out of the contest, will meet officials from Shanxi Baorong later this week in China.

Salley will undergo a medical with the Chinese Super League club before signing a deal.

But United may off-load up to two contracted players, including young Socceroos' defender Scott Jamieson, for a transfer fee.

The former Bolton Wanderers squad player was the rookie revelation of the competition.

"I'll sit down and talk to the club and my advisers and stuff and see where to go," Jamieson said. "But I'm very happy in Adelaide."

And new signing Iain Fyfe was spotted trialling with Chinese club Dalian Shide last week.

Any news on this topic? I asked around and been told that it's not true and in April there are trials
