W- Leage vs WNSL (which is better)

Post by billy the kid »

I've seen two games on tv and one live. And this is my summary

Last week I saw Qld v WA. Absolutely boring and uninspiring game.

This week I saw on tv Qld v ACT. Again. Very Very Very poor showing.

Adelaide v Newcastle.....I think there is room for improvement. The game has been analysed to death on here. Good win girls and great hat trick Sandra. Top forward and someone who hopefully may get a crack at the Matiildas.

So the debate WNSL or W-League.

I'm of the firm belief that from what I recall of the games I saw at Birks ground and Marden. the game were of a very high standard.
Is it because WNSL teams were made predominantly of NTC players? Possibly.

Is it because the W-LEague has many non-NTC players? I think so.

I have been a critic of the valetta rd academy howvere, credit where credit's due, I think the WNSL was far better.

Your thoughts?

Good question. I reckon I will wait to make a comment in a couple of weeks time.

It was actually Sydney vs perth glory to be correct.

And personally I found that game quite interesting.
Im also interested to know how you come up with many NON NTC players when Sydney and Queensland are both made up of Matildas and Young Matildas??? Even Perth has there fair share of matildas and young matildas in the team and adelaide has three young matildas, 2 matildas and 5 ex matildas so.

I just think you and SAD Gal cant be happy about anything.........

I just wish they would advertise it abit more. I dont know how many times I heard the Adelaide game being advertised on the radio but nothing about the womens before hand

Not only me Mrs T. (not expecting you to be impartial here) but many others (including players of note) watched the game and said...I thought you said women’s soccer was good? Poor skills. Slow and boring as…is my appraisal thus far.

I don't think you have put the matildas and NTC players in a good light if as you say play in the w-league. I saw these games and there were skills on display that made me shudder. Its been a while since I saw an WNSL game but I do recall being in the stands admiring the game strategy and skill.

I can be happy. However, I think those outside the game with NO emotional bias are able to give a far more objective point of view.

As I said, I'll reserve my opinion in a couple of weeks.

from the games ive seen i also agree that the wnsl was of a better standard than the w-league, however the w-league is much more professional the way it is run. wnsl never had any backing and that is why it failed. the w-league step up is a good one and hopefully the football side of things will develop from here

but then the WNSL had been playing against quality opposition for a few years. Wait to see what the comp will be like in a couple of years when they have been playing quality comp. It and they can only improve.
But they need the support as Shorty said we need the people to come out and support the girls not whinge that they are not good enough. Reallly you are never going to get a team that everyone is happy with....

yeh exactly mrs trainer. thats kinda what im getting at. eventually i think the w-league will be much more superior due to the set-up (not step-up...lol) that it has. hopefully the w-league will continue long enough for us to make fair comparisons

yeh i think the first 2 seasons are the most crucial in determining whether it is a long term thing or not. adelaide united have put a lot of money into having a girls team so hopefully all a-league clubs give it the thumbs up at the end of the year

Next home game is Sunday the 9th of November (Round 3) at Hindmarsh Stadium. Kick off is at 2:30pm

Hoping there is a big crowd out there

The game is against Sydney FC W-League who are currently undefeated
