clubs show future direction for junior development
will any clubs comment on what they can offer to parents and kids from different comps, I know of several kids looking to move but information is pretty slow on coming through except that some clubs say they have a structure and at trial all will be revealed.
we have lots of trial dates set but no other information as to what structures they have in place.
why are clubs junior co-ordinators scared to publicly announce what they truely offer?
any insights or opinons?

Re: clubs show future direction for junior development
Unfortunately we are in the middle of the silly season and most clubs are finalising coaching staff, speaking about our club we are assembling a fantastic coaching staff, a blend personalities with one common goal, the development off all our players, which every club can also say, we are building a strong community spirit, our indoor pitch is currently under construction, we are placing a lot of long overdue resource into repairing our pitches, we are negiotiating with some specialised coaches, especially focucing on our junior Keepers a this again this season and this has been given some priorities. Why the Raiders? well that will be up to all to discover when you come out to trial. Again every club can say the same, trials are like a test drive, if you like the product and the product responds to you then anything is possible.
Re: clubs show future direction for junior development
thanks b.o.n. it appears alot of junior co-ordinators have the talk and once signed on they deliver very little especially when they ant to take every kid that comes on for trials regardless of how good they are.
but the really embarassing part is the clubs focus is lesser on teaching the kids which need the most work and if the pathway is wrong then the only one who suffers is the child, the FFSA should make clubs accountable for a minimum they must teach all players.

Rather than Clubs do the talking, (and they will say the right things anyway) why don't YOU do the talking and tell us who has really upset YOU. If seems YOU have a gripe with something/someone as this isn't the first time you've posed this question on here.

contacting everyone on what their policy is a huge task I would be on the phone for hours so why not just state it here and it seems the clubs that are getting the names out here on forums have a direction they (club or parents) must be happy to promote. (adelaide city and raiders).
so how about you tell your thoughts on who develops or provides what.

Para Hills start their juniors from u/11, where they pick the best kids from the E&D league that come out to trials, rather then developing their own 6-10 year olds.
No gripe intended, just stating facts, but correct me if I'm wrong

Many of the northern clubs have not had to worry about developing juniors as the E&D system works as a feeder to supply those clubs with ready-made players.
New Boot, it really comes down to the coach of a particular team. In all clubs and associations you will have good coaches and not so good coaches. Clubs can promise you the earth but if you are not happy with the quality of your coach, then all the promises count for nothing. Your $500 could be well spent or wasted.
Depending on the age group you are intending to participate in, I would seriously consider some other options.

Agreed Boss. Good kids do turn up at the Hills for trials. Para has some good coaches (rabbit included) which results in good kids wanting to be there.
We also runs a extra skills session for its 11's-13's.
We have extended this over the last few year to other clubs and get a good crop of under 8-11 coming out for extra training.
This is a free session. The kids attending these sessions end up turning up at trials with a good skill base (which helps gives them technical advantage which Para also benifits from)

Alot of clubs out there with big names, big "reputations" and big fees, but if the coach is crap in a particular team, means nothing and a waste of a year

thanks mac, this is what i'm asking about not so much the coaching points but the directions from what a club offers and how they deliver it.Malcolm McDonald. wrote:Agreed Boss. Re: clubs show future direction for junior development
And I thought nobody knows who I am
As mentioned above, some clubs can say all they want and sometimes promise what they can't deliver but in my limited experience these same clubs mean well but are only as good as the structure within allows them to be.
My personal philosophy......I don't even think it is just about playing soccer. It's about fun combined with a competitive edge that makes a difference in a social sense too. Most kids at my club are not only mates on the park but are mates away from the club too. Respect in a young kid towards others is a great quality and it's so rewarding when you see kids and coaches shake hands after spending past seasons working together. If you are in a team that wins things too....well that's just a bonus.

Re: clubs show future direction for junior development
i was told that para have got away from parents coaching in many age groups? and having seen their first team many times this year the fact the bulk have come thru the juniors would also help to sell paras reputation as well as winning so many junior leagues, having many ais, sasi and adel utd juniors would also show para hills are showing their junior development

All clubs would post the same thing regardless of their ability to deliver on it so what would you gain NB ?
We strive to develop youngsters etc etc blah blah blah,
Actions speak louder than words, get out and talk to people it is the only way to find out what is going on.

the reality of it is
is that most coaches didnt make wen they were young
im not sayin all im saying most
so they are pretty much in it for them selves
and it shows up
u get a coach who thinks he knows everythin bout the sport
because he used to play it and has been watcin it for years
but does actually kno how to communicate with kids? or
does he have the patience with them?
Re: clubs show future direction for junior development
pov every manufacturer sells their car stating the same, its got wheels and all the mod cons and is better than the rest but we can still get information from various areas, magazines and websites not to mention the test drive.povman1964 wrote:All clubs would post the same thing regardless of their ability to deliver on it so what would you gain NB ?

are some better than others? damn right some lead the world others are just rubbish.
now everyone asks questions when making a financial commitment for your future $$$ so why not with a childs future?
people say fed is the next step and too date thats debated vigourously on the sites but what is sure is various clubs in various comps have a good direction / development.

Re: clubs show future direction for junior development
Agree with Rabbit....my sons coach did make it when he was young and it most definately is not about him....his primary interest is in developing his players (which he is absolutely doing)....more often is a problem with parents thinking their son is the next Harry Kewel....

i know a coach at my club that didnt know how to speak to kids
and he has never learnt
he woudnt be able to control the kids at trainings and when things got out of hand
he started dropping F-bombs every now and then at his own players
so its not garbage
another coach yells and yells at these little 10 or 11 year olds to get results
and he does but at the end of the day you see the children wont go near him they are so scared
so its not actually garbage
another coach had a win at all cost game plan
didnt even care about how his players played
and they finished round the bottom

Have highlighted some of your key words for you to read. Your comments are still mostly garbage.

Rabbit / Hollygirl
r u 2 man and wife ?
You speak with same tongue, Titi tierry Henry or wotever u talk garbage.
Grow up and get with the real world.
Go for a job interview and look at both sides of the fence,
If an employer wants u he will tell you whatever to get you on board, you will tell him whatever to get the job.
Same as junior soccer.
YOU should take a look and YOU should ask people the questions to get YOUR opinion as to what is best for your son/daughter.
Rabbit may b a bunny and sells himself short (about 5'8") but the proof of the pudding is in th eating.
Hollygirl,
to have a coach who did make it as a player and has continued as a coach for juniors is a legend, drop me his name and i'll buy him a beer anyday i am down south
