In a nutshell... St Peters weren't at the races today. In the reserves Wanderers took the lead in the first half but only held on for the win. St Peters unlucky not to get something out of it. I'll write a bit more a bit later when I have a chance.

Other results:
A's: African Allstars 3 Stirling 2
B's: African Allstars 1 Stirling 2

No one is asking you!

Wanderers re-focused to win the league and it paid off. It's laughable how you still try to bag us when we register our opinion or not.

Good spirit in yesterday's game from both sides (no BS from either side), it was great to play off in the last game for the championship.

Thanks to DB for coming in at the end to congratulate the boys - everyone appreciated it.

It's been a great season from Wanderers, a couple hiccups towards the end when there were multiple injuries, but we hung in there as CHAMPION sides do!

To all the other clubs we played this year, thanks for some brilliant games and it was good to meet some of our fellow forumites!!

The league looks like it will be even tougher next year with the additions of Sturt & Villa - enjoy the off-season everyone.

The games started off like one you would expect a title decider too. Both sides began well. I think it was about fifteen or twenty minutes in that Wanderers took the lead with a cracking shot that appeared to hit the stantion (is that what you call that small frame at the back of the goal that keeps the net off the line) and come back out. From where we were standing it was impossible to tell if it crossed the line but the linesman ruled that it did and St Peters didn't dispute it so I presume it did. Wanderers scored their second just seconds before half time. St Peters needed to score twice in the second half to take the title but they'll probably be the first to admit they played poorly and they didn't look like they would score. There were no goals in the second half and Wanderers held on for the win. No one can dispute they were the better side on the day and deserved their win.

Great singing by their reserves team. Who the hell is Jimmy Boullard?

Jimmy Bullard is a quality midfielder for Fulham. He's from Millwall country, but he supports the scum.
previous thread about the best transfers wrote:18. Jimmy Bullard, Peterborough United to Wigan Athletic, January 31, 2003

The midfield scamperer was a relatively low-profile addition to Wigan’s squad – he cost £275,000 – but became a vital midfield cog in their promotion-winning side and kept his place in the top-flight. He moved to Fulham in 2006 for £2.5m.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

I went down to watch the game yesterday. I thought all in all wanderers we too good. The quality of players shone through at the right time of the season. I thought the barbaro brothers were too good in the middle of the park. Once wanderers got the second i couldn't see saints scoring 2 past a solid defense the wanderers had. The game certainly had an air of pressure about it and there was some great football played. It is certainly a different ball game to sunday leagues.
Congrats to Wanderers anyway, just a pity you could end the game with a bit of sportsmanship.

Wot u on about mate - we shook hands with all the players, their coach, the ref then celebrated by singing the club song which we do after every victory - wtf u expecting, a cup of tea and some scones..?

The St Peters boys could have stayed and had some drinks with us as they were flowing, but I couldn't see anyone that stayed behind... mind u I probably would have been inconsolable if we had lost too...

Laney,

Been waiting to see when you were going to post on this topic. I notice you haven't congratulated the Wanderers as yet. Pretty pointless trying to fire up the roo considering the season is over and, yes, much to your dissapointment, they are now league champions.

Come on Laney.... i thought you were better than that.

Congratulations to the Wanderers on their league title. Well done to Ralph, whom I met at the last Jets v Wanderers clash, nice bloke and good coach. I wonder if the rest of the Sat Div One sides will fly the Saturday flag by supporting the Wanderers when they play the Vale for the Champion of Champion trophy?
Dixie Dean was hailed by another Mersey legend, Liverpool’s Bill Shankly, as “belonging in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Rembrandt and Shakespeare.”

60 goals, never to be equalled.
