Catch Up Results

Post by Missing Post Count »

Saturday Division Two:

A's: Adelaide Villa 0 Sturt Marion Thunder 3
B's: Adelaide Villa 2 Sturt Marion Thunder 1

Two very entertaining games. In the reserves Villa took the lead within five minutes from the spot. Before the ten minute mark they should have had a second spot kick after a definate push in the box that everyone saw except the referee (although over all I think he had a good game). Villa took that lead into the break and could have doubled in not long after the restart when one of their players rounded the keeper and then put his shot wide of the open goal. Sturt equalized before Villa clinched it near the end.

The A's was a very fiesty game in the first half. Sturt went one better than the Villa reserves when they only took four minutes to take the lead from a free kick which was whipped into the box and nicely put away. Their second also came from a free kick, this time being an indirect free kick in the box which was once played was then smashed through the wall. They deserved their 2-0 half time lead. Villa played much better in the second half but couldn't score. It wasnt until late in the game before Sturt put away umber three.

The reserves had an official referee who told me he thought there were catch up games schedule for tomorrow (possibly involving Cove). Can anyone confirm?

So Bodo was at the game last night too?? :D
I too went along to watch the Sturt and Villa game and was thoroughly entertained.
The first team game had a fair bit of niggle but what you would expect with one v two.
Just thought Villa needed to concentrate more on the game then the player considering their promotion to Div 1 was on the line.
All in all though a very good result for a very very good Sturt side.
Looked to me that a few decent players started on the bench for them too - very good result then!
I wish the Sturt guys all the best for the rest of the season (which is just a formality) and for the cup too.
Much deserved success for a quality side and coaching staff.
No doubt I will be out to their semi-final clash when it occurs (might even have Bodo there again)!

reserves game was a fantastic result for our B team, now 1 game clear at the top
A game was entertaining, pity about the referreing. Was always 25-30m behind play, and rarely spotted the pushing and shoving by both teams. Sturts 1 st goal coming from a free kick, which was very soft, was headed in by a sturt player after what was a bit of pushing and shoving in the box, but a great finish. Second goal comin from a free kick after our keeper held on the ball for like about 30 secs b4 "old fart" ref blew for indirect free kick!
Second half was very franatic pace, Villa totally outplayin Sturt for most of the half, But great keeping and defending from the Sturt Boys prevented any goals. Villa had a few chances, hitting the crossbar and 2 great saves from the keeper.
Sturt scored the third, from a counter attck, leading to a long throw in and a header past Villa keeper.

Overall, Sturt are a GREAT side, expertly coached and played a good brand of football. I hope they do well in the cup and take it out for Saturday teams.

Referee had a shocker, too many times he would call free kicks, which were soft, and the real free kicks, well if he kept up with play, would of been paid!

Are these games at league headquarters? How is the pitch holding up?

Sturt are definitely set play specialists. Good on them- not enough clubs spend time working on set plays.

Yeah the refereeing in the As was a disgrace. The bloke doing the Bs was much better.

There was quite a bit of bullsh!t, off-the-ball crap throughout which was unnecessary, most notably from the Villa right-back in the first half. He was more irritable than an inflamed haemorrhoid.

I agree the B's referee was definately much better. Missed one penalty but I think he had a good game on the whole.

Saturday Division Three:

A's: Salisbury Villa 3 Red Blue Eagles 0.

It must have been cold because even I felt it. Looked like the game was played on the beach with all the sand that was around but to be fair both teams played on the same pitch. Met Rob Lozza for the first time as well as couple of Comets' forumites who asked me if I was Bodø. Villa comfortable winners in the end and the third goal while taking a little while to come was worth the wait. Red Blue Eagles had their moments too but the inability to finish left the Villa keeper with very little to do.

Eagles' keeper was very entertaining with his comments non stop :D
Made me chuckle anyway.

That's what I've been told, although all catch up matches really should be done for seasoon's end, especially one that may have a big brearing on things as that one.

Yes that was me. The referee from the Parafield Gardens v Ingle Farm match was supposed to be the second official linesman but apparently he did his groin at the end of that match, so you're official referee told him not to aggravate it and came and asked me to do the line in his place.

On the game itself, very entertaining. The wind obviously makes a big difference there, but both goals came at the other end. Most of the first half was all Bosna until Croatia took the lead against the run of play. Croatia had the better chances at the latter end of that first half. Bosna equalized just after the restart. Chances at both ends before and after the red cards (both for second bookable offenses). Despite being down to nine men Croatia could have won it in the dying stages. Onlooking Vista players were happy with the result and they now have safety in their own hands if they can win at Croatia on sunday.

Ingle Farms Reserves win puts them back on top with a 3 goal superior goal difference better than Elizabeth Downs (both on 45 points).
Downs have West Beach away and Farm have Pontians at home in their respective final games.
Failing an Ingle Farm stuff up, I can't see the Downs Reserves getting their 3 Titles in a row...I'd like to be proven wrong though.

Many a stranger thing has happened. Farm won't be counting their chickens before they hatch. There's so much happening this weekend. Several champions, promotion, and relegation spots still unknown.

Yeh Swanny because Farm have scored more, that means Downs would have to get 4 clear goals over Farm (by my calculations anyhow)

Updated the league tables last night for Div 1 and 2.. there is an error on the position of Croatia but the points and goal diff are correct.
http://www.inglefarmsoccerclub.com/IFAS ... Tables.htm

Hung around to watch the Croat / Bosna match last night.. I thought it was a pretty average match personally, Croatia went down to 9 men for last 10 minutes, 1 sent off for a near enough all in brawl at about the 65 minute mark, the other a reckless challenge 10 mins from time..

1-1 the result
