greece made 5 subs at half time! i watched the game, and they honestly played like they didnt want to be there! gekas got triped and had a dummy spit at the player and looked to be saying: 'dont fucn hack me i got euro next week'. it was a dull boring affair. Doesn't mean anything.

Mate, your a friken clown buddy, you really are. Did you even watch the game this morning???
If you know anything about Greece apart from the 300 Spartans that licked your Persian armies of 1000 nations(LOL), or ALEXANDROS, the man who injected Greek blood into you blokes via your women, you will know that we played Armenia with more interchanges than an AFL football match, and our team didnt really care. They were more worried about not getting injured and just getting some match fitness before next weeks 1st game.

Armenia played like their countries existence was at stake

And CHOKERS, who us??? hahahahahahaha, your a funny turk you are pal. Just thank Norway that you are even at this tournament and worry about your own crap team. Remember, you finished BELOW us in qualifying, thats right BELOW us where weve always had you, you filthy scumbags 8)

Funniest part is, you beat us 4-1, and you still couldnt finish TOP of the group

You scumbags should remember this, you finished BELOW the mighty ELLAS

Now go back to FILTHstanbul, and ask your mates what happened when the EURO 04 Champions last visited your country    LOSERS :D

Heres a joke for you Tuncay: 2 filthy turkish Professors were taking a walk in the woods when they came along a set of tracks, professor number 1 says "they are rabbit tracks", professor number 2 says "no, i studied this at university, they are deer tracks". Professor 1 says "im telling you they are rabbit tracks", Professor 2 says "no way, they are deer tracks".
Anyway, while they were arguing, they got hit by a train

See, thats how smart you people are, dumbasses :D

there was a plane with 4 passangers ,
one greek ,, one armenian , one Turkish and
his 10 year old son...

suddenly pilot makes an announcement,
gentlemen we have a technical problem and I urge
to take the three parachutes which we have and jump
to save at least 3 of your lives...

the armenian says , well I am from california and
I will be the next governor and I cannot die ,
so he takes one parachute and jumps...

then the greek guy , says , I have a large fleet
of ships and I am very smart so I shouldnot die and
he takes one of the bags and jumps...

then the Turkish father says , sonny I am old
you have to live and grow older , please take the
last parachute and save yourself...

the 10 year old turkish boys says,
daddy dont worry we can jump together since we still have two parachutes ...!
father says how comes son there was only three??

the kid says , the very smart greek guy took my
school backpack and he jumped dad...!

Can Greece Lightning Strike Twice?

Following their totally unexpected victory of Euro 2004 in Portugal, Greece managed to qualify for this tournament with the most points (31) of any side to have made it to Austria and Switzerland – but can Greece do the unthinkable and win the European Championship title for a second successive time?

Code: Select all

Year Tournament Next
     Winner European
                     Championship Record

1960 USSR Runners Up
1964 Spain Failed to Qualify
1968 Italy Failed to Qualify
1972 West Germany Runners Up
1976 Czechoslovakia Semi Final
1980 West Germany First Round
1984 France Failed to Qualify
1988 Netherlands Semi Final
1992 Denmark First Round
1996 Germany First Round
2000 France Quarter Final
2004 Greece ???
No team has managed to win back-to-back European Championship titles before, so in the unlikely event that Greece do go on to win Euro 2008, they would be the first team to do so.
Only five of the 11 previous champions have been able to get past the first round of the next European Championships, so Greece will be more than wary of falling foul of this record.

The Sweeds will be a big test. After the game against armenia there were quite a few players that have made it harder for Otto pick a first 11.

I would have said leading into the game he would go with:

Nikopolidis (our safest choice and I doubt whether Otto would change here)
Torosidis
Dellas
Kyriakos
Seitaridis
Katsouranis
Karagounis
Basinas
Amanatidis
Gekas
Haristeas (whether you agree or not Otto loves the way this bloke plays)

as his starting 11

But some reasonable efforts by Patzazouglou, Antzas, Salpigithis, Spiropoulos and Samaras will make it harder for him to pick a starting 11. Antzas especially really impressed me and even though I am a big fan of Dellas that will be a hard call to make. He also has Limberopoulos and Giannakopoulos who can make an impact in this side. Would have been nice to see Ninis and Papastathoupoulos (as Kop has mentioned) have made this side. Both these boys have to montys for the next world cup campaign.

What ever the case will be its now up to Otto to get us up and ready.

Time for Ellas to kick some ass.

GREECE ARE STILL A UNKNOWN FACTOR. Yes they won 2004 but it has to be repeated with a solid tournament. They also need to prove them selfs at the World Cup.

In the grand scale of things the Greeks are still very much an unknown quantity at international level. While they have sent a team to contest every single European Championship qualification round, only three times have they proven successful: 1980, 2004 and 2008. Their World Cup record makes for even grimmer reading, with just  one qualification out of the 16 which they entered. Granted, in both competitions one of their campaigns ended in withdrawl from Yugoslavia, yet it remains not the most encouraging of statistics

Still, one could conclude that this merely makes their 2004 win all the more exciting and admirable. Indeed, prior to 2004 their pre-tournament record of mediocrity was matched only by their failure to step up to the competition proper. This was particularly true of the World Cup - to this day their record reads played 3, lost 3, scored 0, conceded 10 -   but it's also the case in the European Championships, where they failed to impress until that remarkable victory in Portugal.

Clearly, then, 2004 was something of an anomaly.

UEFA EURO 2008

Team - Progress to Quarter Final - Progress to Semi Final - Progress to Final - Win

Germany - 83% - 51% - 32% - 17%
Spain - 79% - 42% - 24% - 14%
Netherlands - 55% - 33% - 18% - 10%
Czech Republic - 63% - 36% - 20% - 10%
France - 54% - 32% - 17% - 10%
Romania - 49% - 27% - 14% - 7%
Italy - 42% - 23% - 12% - 6%
Switzerland - 51% - 25% - 12% - 5%
Portugal - 51% - 25% - 11% - 5%
Croatia - 55% - 26% - 11% - 5%
Sweden - 45% - 17% - 7% - 3%
Greece - 43% - 15% - 6% - 2%
Turkey - 34% - 14% - 6% - 2%
Poland - 37% - 14% - 5% - 2%
Russia - 33% - 10% - 3% - 1%
Austria - 26% - 9% - 3% - 1%

A2% chance of lifting the cup it might be decades before you celebrate any silver ware again.
