without knowing the full story it doesn't sound good
This match has been called off after a Parma fan was accidentally run over and killed by a bus driven by Juventus supporters on their way to the stadium.

Juventus - Parma Called Off After Tragic Fan Death

This afternoon's clash between Juventus and Parma has been called off after a Parma fan was tragically killed on his way to the game.

News on the incident is still sketchy at this stage, but it is understood that the Parma fan was accidentally run over by a coach on his way to this afternoon's game at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

There is no reason to believe that any hooliganism was involved in the fatality, but the decision has been taken to call off the game as a precaution.

By a cruel twist of fate this tragedy takes place on the return matchday from when Lazio fan Gabriele Sandri was accidentally shot dead by policeman at a motorway service station on November 11.

Full details of the incident will no doubt emerge later today.

- The deceased was 28 years old.
- Occured just after midday.
- There was a mini bus with approx 9 Juve fans which was surrounded by a large group of Parma supporters. They surrounded the bus, punching the windows and chanting, creating tension. The driver, trying to make a quick getaway ran over the Parma fan. He died instantly.
- Ironically, the death has occured during the same round of fixtures as when Gabriele Sandri died earlier this season.

Bloody bus drivers just can't trust them can you Bodø

On a serious note it's pretty poor when kids are dying going to a football match, really just tops off what has been a poor season in Italy this year.

What a disaster! You put yourself in a dangerous position by surrounding a vehicle and harrasing people, causing rash decisions to be made.

Bloody bus drivers !!!
The thing that surprised me about this story is if this fan was travelling to the game surely it was just hours if not minutes before kickoff.
Had this happened on Port road for a fan going to Hindmarsh or Aami would the news reach the stadium before kickoff? Even if it did I can't imagine them calling of a HAl or AFL game at such short notice.

Not related to football, but I finished a run at Glenelg late the year before last and all these youths came running out from where the tram terminates and toward the bus and I have to say it frightened the shít out of me.

I think the Italian fans are more likely to bycott the game after such an incident than Australian's, we probably would make a sound.

The authorities would have no choice but to cancel it, no matter how short the notice. If word got round in the stadium that Parma fans attacked Juve fans then the small section of away fans would be under threat and all that and it could create far bigger problems.

So sad that football has come to this.

Same week end we had extreme violence in Argentina.

I just don't understand the mentality of it all and I am lost for a solution.

The story is hazy right now, but eyewitnesses claim there was some friendly verbal banter between the two sets off fans and that the Parma fan was accidentally run over by the reversing bus driver, who drove off because he did not know what he just did.

This seems to be a possibly likely story, as he was stopped by cops 2kms down the highway and pleadd that he did not know what happened.

So it may have nothing to do with any violence.
