Muscat Quits International Football
Kevin Muscat quit the Socceroos after he was left out of the Australia team for the World Cup qualifier against Qatar by coach Pim Verbeek.
The Melbourne Victory midfielder expressed his disappointment after his omission from the squad to face Qatar in Wednesday’s qualifier. Muscat, 34, was looking forward to add to his 51 caps. But the ex-Rangers and Wolves player failed to feature for the Socceroos.
He said: "I'm disappointed, gutted. I thought I had a realistic chance of playing one last game in Melbourne. But I'm not going to moan about it.
"I'm calling it a day. I'm not going to put myself through it all again. I got called up [to the training squad] and I had a crack at it for one game and I didn't make it. I really wanted to play one more game with John Aloisi and Craig Moore, but it's not going to happen. That's life."
But after serving the Socceroos since 1994, Muscat has no regrets calling time on his international career.
He said: "But Pim showed me the respect of sitting down and talking to me face-to-face and I appreciate that. I've got no complaints."

You really do love everyone dont you...E. Grant & Co wrote:Kev, thanks for everything you have put in to the Socceroos, hate it when you play well against us but respect you for what you've done for the game here in the A League.

I applaud your unwavering support for all things football but geez, the guy is a hack who more often than not brings Australian football into disrepute. I for one will not be thanking him for that.
a much bigger occasion would be if SKL retires from posting! it appears to be some tool from Adelaide having a cry about this season, but will jump on the Adelaide bandwagon if we start performing well again. Pathetic!
No ur pathetic. he is a hack. Nothing more. I didnt even know he played international games. Oh and by the way, all u Muscat fans, before u say anything good about the man, just think about that career ending tackle he laid on that poor bloke in England a few years back
