The New wearing skins rule

Post by davidvilla »

As most of you wuld know The rule with having different coloured skins from your teams strip is an offence to the refs i think this rule is preerty silly as long as its not real noticball but wen refs pin you for just having black skins with a red couloured strip and the skins are only showing 2cm out of the pants its very stupid i know because iv been taking off the pitch twice  at the start of the game . what are ur opinions about this

Why did you wear the black skins a 2nd time after having to take them off the first time :?:
Don't blame the refs, they are only following the FFA rules.

Rules can certainly be questioned at the right time and in the right place but not at the expense of your team especially if you knew you were breaking them  Having said that, personally I can't see a problem with it if they are only just showing. I can only assume they may interfere with the referees decisions in some way. Or maybe it's simply dress code.

It's in the laws of the game.
Taken from FIFA handbook:-

Basic Equipment
The basic compulsory equipment of a player comprises the following
separate items:
• a jersey or shirt – if undergarments are worn, the colour of the
sleeve should be the same main colour as the sleeve of the jersey
or shirt.
• shorts – if undershorts are worn, they are of the same main colour
as the shorts
• stockings
• shinguards
• footwear

Its not new, it's been around a few years. As it is part of Law 4, it can't be amended except by FIFA. So all the players around the world have to abide by the rule.

I believe they are following FIFA rules that have been further enforced by the "Local" body FFSA...
However it is interesting to see the National Body (FFA) NOT following FIFA rules...

Watch the Pre-Season Cup Final today and you will see Adelaide all wearing BLACK Skins and the Perth Glory wearing WHITE skins :?: :?:

Ummm... is it just me or are the FFA doing it Frank Sinatra style (for all those under 35 years you won't get that last line!!)

bahahaha imagine playing in stockings.

the only way u can play with alternate coloured skins is to pull them right up all the way like a second pair of undies to avoid the ref not seeing them. defeats the purpose then. so in other words, dont bother with the skins.

arent they supposed to be used for training purposes ideally tho?

 Have a look at the Local SA and League Football Forum site and click on Adelaide Utd Vs Perth Glory Pictures. Not that important after all that the skins match your shorts is it.

I think the issue with this is where does it stop? Do you then let people where full length ones?

Then the full length ones are the same colour as the oppositions shorts etc. etc. bla bla get it?

We have even had a ref in E&D pick up one of our lads before a game. I was unaware of the rule, but the E&D apparently sent out a letter at the start of the year, the club I coach at just didn't share the info, so my fault I guess.

btw

Many things are gotten away with at the senior level of the game and not juniors, next time you watch a "pro" game check out the throw-ins, no junior gets away with the assortment of foul throws committed by the "pros" each week.

No the rule specifically states you can't wear full length skins, they cannot go past the knee:

Law 4 – Players Equipment - June 29, 2007
Added by: Steve Gregan

Please be reminded of the following player requirements with specifically relation to players wearing thermal undershorts.

Law 4 – Players Equipment - Laws of the Game 2007

Player's Shorts – (If thermal undershorts are worn, they are of the same main colour as the shorts)

Players are permitted to wear visible undergarments such as thermopants. They must however, be the same colour as the shorts of the team of the player wearing them and not extend beyond the top of the knee. If a team wears multicolored shorts, the undergarments must be the same colour as the predominant colour.

Please note under no circumstances shall players be permitted to take part in any games wearing full length thermal pants. It is also not permissible to pull up thermal shorts that are not the same colour as the main colour of the shorts.

I'm no ref but show me on FIFA.com where it says you can't wear full length pants under your shorts?

NOT in FFSAs Media Release!!!

Here you go then; it's a pdf so i can't past the whole thing in here but here's the link. Go to page 32; Items worn under the playing kit

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournam ... e_1797.pdf

But here's a summary for you:
Article 20, Item 20.4; Thermal shorts must be the same colour as the main colour of the shorts

It doesn't say anywhere that you're allowed to wear full length thermal pants, it only says thay you can wear thermal shorts and given that the FIFA Laws of the Game don't have a specific rule for the correct interpretation of the hand ball rule, then if the FFA and FFSA want to interpret the above to mean no full length pants then as the governing body of the sport in this country then that is their right.

Nothing you can do about it mate... And serious harden up, why do you want to wear long thermals anyway

You can't wear skin coloured skins anyway....they have to be the same colour as your shorts.....you get the skin coloured ones if you have to dye them (ie if you don't have black shorts).

Of course you will soon be able to get any colour at Barneys new "Skins 'r Us" store.....I need a cut though Barney

I was thinking the same about the pre season cup. Why do they go to such efforts to enforce this silly rule in local soccer only to let it go in the more professional league?

Oh and i'm well under 35 and i get the quote (and its not because of that crappy jovi song either)

Just an update for you all... Bailetti's in the city have skins in royal blue, navy blue, red, black, and green...

Should be something there for everyone... They also have junior sizes.

Or buy online straight from the Skins web-site.

At junior level I think it is taking things a bit far - but rules are rules I suppose. (and parents just get a little poorer again when they have to go and buy coloured skins having already paid out for black or skin tone....)
