Met him once and seemed a real good bloke.
His 8/43 (I think) against Australia in the early 80's was still probably the best and most devastating bowling I've seen by a pom v Aussies ever.
RIP Bob Willis

Re: RIP Bob Willis
The Willis one was with England backs to the wall, Aussies only needing 129 (I think) to win and he just went mad. Even many of the runs against were edges through slips from memory.God is an Englishman wrote:Broad's 8/15?Bomber wrote:Met him once and seemed a real good bloke.

Re: RIP Bob Willis
He was a character of the game. There was an Ashes match where Bob walked out to the middle checking his gloves and pads multiple times before only realising his mistake as he prepared to take his guard. He never brought his bat out. I think it was a match at Edgbaston in the 80s.

I may not be perfect but I'm still the closest I have ever come across

Marsh & Lillee certainly didn't lose when it came to a lazy punt on the opposition either! 500/1 when they put down a tenner each - good odds. Imagine doing that today!
