Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
To be played on the June Long Weekend (8-10)
Salisbury Inter vs Adelaide Comets (this will be a good game. Comets are gunning for an WNPL spot in 2019)
Fulham vs West Adelaide
Metro vs Adelaide City
Cumberland vs Adelaide University
All good games and who'd want to miss one or any of them!!!! Hopefully the dates/times/venues come out soon. Let's hope that there are double headers at the Parks on Friday or Saturday night. Please FFSA!!!!!

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
I would think that several of the teams listed wouldn't want to give up t heir home ground advantage for this one...Metro and Cumberland in particular have a lot to gain by playing on their home pitches...

Thanks for the reply to this topic. Always a good and constructive contributor.
I was thinking more about getting people to the games rather than home ground advantages
The only ones looking for a home ground advantage would be the Comets. The others would prefer the serene environs of the Parks or the Shores.

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
Definitely would be better for spectators if the games were centralised. But I stand by what I said about what some clubs might prefer...not sure how the decision gets made regarding where cup fixtures are played.

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
Please pardon my lack of understanding however, who will benefit from the venues? I'm not clear.
Apart from Comets, the WNPL will all benefit if the games are played at the Parks or Shores. I think you are referring to the fact that the teams listed first i.e. Metro and Cumby would be the designated home team and would therefore play at their home grounds (Parks or Shores).
Unless the teams play at their suburban home grounds, I see the games as venue neutral and no benefit to either (apart from Comets).

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
I did mean their suburban home grounds. Lindblom Park is a small pitch with spectators right on the touchline. Great if you're Metro. Women's Memorial playing fields is bigger than Hindmarsh. Great if you're used to training on a pitch that big. Then there are the takings from the canteen- Metro does a great canteen and would probably be keen to get the proceeds from that. That was my thinking. In cup terms, the Parks and the Shores are neutral grounds.
The first cup round was played at suburban home grounds, for the most part. Usually FFSA has semi final and final rounds at the Parks or the Shores. Since this is the quarter final round, I'm not sure whether the games will be played at suburban home grounds or not. We'll see I guess.

Interesting.
Thanks for clarifying it however, you've gone into a lot of detail in your response that I didn't think of. All due respect, far too analytical i.e.size of pitch, canteen takings, proximity of spectators etc. etc.

uh....I'm sorry?
I'll try to put less thought into my posts in future.
But from experience, this is how clubs and coaches think.

Size of pitch makes a big difference.billy the kid wrote:Interesting.

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
FFSA will also charge clubs to use Parks/Shores for an extra game, so you'd factor in venue hire costs too.juniorsupporter wrote:I did mean their suburban home grounds. Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
Has the draw already been done ? nothing up on website yet seniors or juniors.
The wnpl teams play enough league games at the FFSA facilities, let the clubs have the opportunity to play at home for the cup rounds, until the final.

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
The WNPL draw is for Prems/SL and their Reserves, play the same club.
Social and Juniors not drawn yet, next round is in July i believe so probably not drawn until next month.

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
I thought that only applied in the first round - I guess not. Three of the Reserve teams are there because they had a forfeit.
Cheers

I always thought this was the case as well - coincidentally, it works this time because the same teams survived the first round... I guess we wait until the website gets updated! The General wrote:I thought that only applied in the first round - I guess not. Three of the Reserve teams are there because they had a forfeit.

Makes sense that Reserves follow the First Team around where possible.

Re: Cup Round - Quarter Finals Fixtures
Thanks for putting up the fixtures for the Cup games over the LW.
Interesting to see that Cumby and Metro aren’t at their “home grounds”. Looks like Junior will be very happy with this. The home teams won’t be receiving an unfair advantage with canteen takings on the day. Fulham is at home at Collins.
Other games are at a neutral venue with gate takings and canteen income going to FFSA. I may be corrected here.

Nathan I'm just commenting on an earlier post about the venues and the home team advantages.
