New Coach required For Adelaide United 2017-2018 season
The rumour has it that Adelaide United Women's Football Club will be searching for a new lady reds coach for season 2017-2018.
Huss will not be offered a contract extension with the lady reds as he has been told to concentrate completely on his boys team.
Hope a coach is appointed soon so they can watch the WNPL and state league to identify the next generation of the lady reds.
It has also been rumoured that local players in the lady reds are encouraged or told to play interstate if they wish to pursue their career with the opportunity to play for the Matildas. Claims that our WNPL competition is not competitive as our other states therefore our players will be overlooked for selection into the Matildas. They were also advised to play for other W League clubs for the same reason.
Interesting. Where do future players go from here?

Talk about a F'ing grenade. WHOOSH BANG!!!!
This has come from far out left field.
A coach, so I’ve heard, has been peddling a lot of this since he took over (him taking over the AUFC women’s team) .
And local players being told to move interstate? Hmm maybe I’d believe it if it was one of the NSW teams. Heidelberg?
I’ll stay posted.

yes hear strong rumours a number of the local wnpl players who were in the AU w league squad are playing interstate in the wnpl in 2017, with a strong connection to Heidelberg. Really if players are good enough they will be targeted and get an opportunity no matter where they play. However it is disappointing that girls are leaving the SA to play in other states, again thereby weakening our wnpl competition.

Let's be realistic here. What is on offer in Vic from a league organisation and financial perspective is quite strong.the barbarian wrote:yes hear strong rumours a number of the local wnpl players who were in the AU w league squad are playing interstate in the wnpl in 2017, with a strong connection to Heidelberg. This is no different to the outflow of young male players into Vic annually, seeking exposure to gain HAL and NYL contracts.
When you only have a handful of games to show your ability in the W-League, you need maximum exposure during the domestic season. Unfortunately, maximum exposure and SA are not two terms that go together well. Once you're done with the National Talent ID period in your career, you need to be more proactive as an individual.
I see a lot of FFV and FNSW WNPL matches replayed online. Not quite there yet with the WNPL here.
I think it's a massive progression in the sport to see young girls move in order to further their career. The womens football community will be stronger in the long run for it.

def agree. also opens up opportunities here for players to move up the senior ranks and for clubs to recruit from interstate.Lucas Leiva wrote: I think it's a massive progression in the sport to see young girls move in order to further their career. Apart from the grenade, it appears that Sportsbird is in the know and hence should be listened to.
So as the wise counsel, how do you see the WNPL in SA shaping up in 2017?
For me it will a brilliant year with Campbelltown and Salisbury entering. I think they will both set the league on fire and if they’re not in the top 4 by mid table by mid-season (or sooner) I’d be surprised. The old campaigners will also be in the mix however, City and the new messiah is something that intrigues me. With girls like Ladas, Scalzii and Willacy leaving (and others elected to stick around) I think their departures will leave a chasm. Why they have left also intrigues me. Is De Bartolo landed at a club in 2017?
For mine West Adelaide are the team to beat. Clean sweep of Cup and League titles.

Re: New Coach required For Adelaide United 2017-2018 season
unless campbelltown and SI have recruited well unfortunately, I cannot see them being competitive in the WNPL, campbelltown were involved in a playoff at the end of last year with cumberland and could not beat them with AC in the team and if rumours are correct and she is leaving to play at heidelberg then they will struggle. Really until all squads are finalised the strength of teams will be difficult to predict but i would imagine that metro will still be the team to beat and as usual even with all their issues AC will always be competitive and WA even with the departure of some of their recruits will still be competitive., and fulham also as i believe they have lost some very good players but have recruited others. so expect them to be competitive so as usual i would expect Metro, AC, WA, Fulham and AU to be the top 5 again.hope i am wrong but would expect the same as last year.
