...being able to hold on to the 1-0 lead and get the 3 points would have been nice. to be fair newcastle deserved a point.

we just didnt control the ball for long enough periods. #5 for newcastle covered some ground and was never really picked up.

a win this friday at Adelaide Shores will do nicely. hopefully can improve on ydays solid effort.

Over the 90 minutes i thought the end result for both teams was fair. Both goals were fortuitous with Adelaides coming from a rebound that Tiarn probably didnt know much about and Newcastles coming from an unfortunate fumble onto the strikers knee.

I thought Adelaide looked slow in both fullback positions but once we moved into the middle and final third we looked much better. MJ also covered a substantial amount of ground but rarely had a good sight on goals. I hope she's pulled up ok this morning, but it didnt look good yesterday.

Good crowd in attendance too. Back to the reality of the Shores this Friday, but looking forward to the next double header in a few weeks time.

yes once she was subbed off, #17 pushed up forward but probably wasnt the best replacement up there. def lacked potecy in attack from that point on....

Fyi MJ has done her ACL again and requires surgery. Very unfortunate.
Surprised sportsbird hasn't been on here yet checking how the "local girls" did instead of supporting the team as a whole.

Yeah, a full season for Metro before the start of the W League would indicate thar clearly MJ was not recovered from her knee injury. C'Mon SADGIRL surely your better than that ? I saw the injury occur and it was just one of those things. I've seen them happen to both players with no history and for recuperated players alike.

Still waiting for Sportbirds match report. Must be epic and detailed.

And if we extend Sad Gal's logic then all players who've done a knee should be eliminated from consideration for selection for W-League (that would rule out a fair few )- and for that matter let's just write off Sam Kerr from the Matilda's- (knee and now ankle...).

Unfortunately, MJ has been plagued by many types of injuries and the W League is not the place to be if you have a suspect body and there is an extreme risk she will once again suffer a season ending injury. You will be exposed. As I said, they're now one player down.

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to express my excitement that the lady Reds were given the opportunity to play at Hindmarsh Stadium prior to the Adelaide United Game. It was just great for the women's game and especially for the players who played on the pitch.
And for the people who took the opportunity to attack me previously on the forum that the lady reds would never play at Hindmarsh Stadium for what ever reasons. All I can say is anything can happen. never say never.

Secondly, It was fantastic to see the Lady Reds perform at Hindmarsh Stadium. Great atmosphere.
Unfortunately, seeing MJ coming off with a knee injury was disheartening and later to find out she had ruptured her ACL.
To MJ, good luck on your recovery.

Now that the Lady Reds need a striker, which player do you think has the experience and knowledge to take on that roll.
There must be a player in the Women's Premier league clubs that could fit that role.
Surely, RA who previously was in charge of the NTC and the development squads would have developed a player ready to be a striker.

I agree with your comments regarding Vic Balomenos, but as she suffered with a previous knee issue it might not go down well with SADGIRL and her wingman. Forgetting about bitter ex players with axes to grind, I'd say if they haven't rung SportsMed to inquire by now, they should give it some serious consideration.

Of the other names mentioned in a previous post, Ruth Wallace is probably the most talented, but there might be issues regarding her fitness and willingness to commit to the level required.

I'd be thinking that maybe Tiarn might have to play further upfront and if they want to fill that last spot either promote someone from the train on squad / NTC or leave it blank.

If you meant continuity, then I'd agree. Its the same for every womens competition, no matter the level, so nothing new there
If you meant community, then i'd disagree. They seem to be engaging well ( well they did at the start of the season ) with local clubs considering its the off season locally
