Cup Semi Finals
Tonight @ Elite Systems
Womens Premier Cup
Metro v Uni
Sturt v City
Both good match ups in their own right. There are favourites but both opponents are capable of upsets. The magic of the Cup could spit up a surprise GF pairing here...
U17 Cup
Blue Eagles v Metro
Comets v Uni Red
Again, a couple of interesting match-ups. Blue Eagles would have to be favourites but against probably against the side most likely to beat them. Uni have beaten Comets but they've also failed to score many this year...a tight one perhaps...

Re: Cup Semi Finals
No shocks in the Premier Cup Semi-Finals last night. Both Adelaide City and Metro United comfortably accounted for Sturt and Adelaide University.
Re: Cup Semi Finals
Any match reports? I heard Adelaide City had quite a flawless second half. Metro and Uni was quite a respectable score. It's going to be a cracking cup final
Re: Cup Semi Finals
Depends on what you class as a respectable score, Metro 3 def Uni 1.
The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

Does it really matter miss Mullen? It wouldn't have changed the outcome of your game
Re: Cup Semi Finals
You know it and I'm pretty sure everyone else does too Roony..
But to answer your question unfortunately I didn't get the pleasure to watch however I did receive a score update at half time and full time. 3 goals in the second half sounds pretty flawless to me. How you doing anyway

For my friend Fitball (I still prefer the name I christened him with earlier this year!), I made the effort to ring people who witnessed this semi-final. My apologies, I didn't get a report on the other semi-final.Fitball wrote:Any match reports? I heard Adelaide City had quite a flawless second half. Metro and Uni was quite a respectable score. The first half was an even affair with both teams pushing the ball around well. City had the territorial advantage and were producing some fine flowing moves. However, Sturt were defending stoutly and looking dangerous with fast counter attacks. It was Sturt that broke the deadlock when Mariah Aplin's low shot skidded past the City keeper. City however, bounced back with a powerful free kick on the right by Alicia Nickolas which rocketed into the far corner to make it 1-1. Shortly before half time Maddie Du Rieu bundled the ball over the line to give City a 2-1 lead at half time.
The second half saw City produce a far more dominant display. Relentless attacks had Sturt defending desperately. City missed some golden opportunities to score on a number of occasions. Sturt, for their part, were able to continue their swift counter attacks and forced Sarah Willacy into a great save on one occasion. However, it was City that went further ahead with goals to Susan Bassett and Alexandra Ladas to make the final score 4-1. The two goals were a fair reflection of City's dominant second half performance, but Sturt were gallant in defeat. City moved into the final where they will face Metro United.

Re: Cup Semi Finals
usually to have the game result reversed and awarded to the losing team would mean an irregularity like fielding an ineligible player or another broken rule, but my bet would be on the former.ZZZZ wrote:does anyone know why the u17 semifinal result was reversed comets v adel uni? went from adel uni 7-0 to comets 3-0

You have to play a minimum of 5 games to play cup finals and one player had not played 5 games so they were disqualified

Well summarised Alex. Unfortunately, an oversight, but a lesson learned

i suppose mathematical errors can happen. 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5
