BYO at away games
After watching some games on the weekend it was surprising to see how many teams travel and bring their own god damn eskies and sell drinks to their own team and players rather than supporting the home teams bar and kitchen....... this is an absolute disgrace and should be outlawed....i wont mention the teams as those who do it know who they are......and without any racist connotations it was unfortunately the anglo based teams who were the biggest offenders
this crappy practice has a follow on effect and i think its pathetic to prevent socializing during and after the game because they all bugger off back to their own clubs because spending twenty bucks elsewhere is gonna make them broke..... shame on all those who participate in this filthy practice...

hey sparts, im aware it happens everywhere but why participate in such anti social behaviour?....what happened to the aussie spirit of being enemies on the field and then having a ber together after the game.... i think its most dissapointing particularly as playing amateur football is about socialising as much as competition....sparts wrote:happens everywhere, cant be stopped

I have to agree with you, Not to say ALL 'anglo'teams do this, but Ive never seen this low act from an 'ethnic' based team. Oh well let them forever be known as tight asses!4q dum dum wrote:After watching some games on the weekend it was surprising to see how many teams travel and bring their own god damn eskies and sell drinks to their own team and players rather than supporting the home teams bar and kitchen....... this is an absolute disgrace and should be outlawed....i wont mention the teams as those who do it know who they are......and without any racist connotations it was unfortunately the anglo based teams who were the biggest offendersthis crappy practice has a follow on effect and i think its pathetic to prevent socializing during and after the game because they all bugger off back to their own clubs because spending twenty bucks elsewhere is gonna make them broke..... shame on all those who participate in this filthy practice...

I reckon you should name these clubs buddy. Dont bring up the topic unless you're gonna dish the dirt..
Mind you, if the home team only stocks VB, I think it's fair enough!

to inform all those whose clus bring there own esky and sell drinks
u are actually breaking the law.....
the liquor license laws do not allow for this..... and clubs can and will be fined $10 000 ....
in fact clubs selling drinks on their ground also can be fined ...
ALL DRINKS MUST BE SOLD WITHIN THEIR CLUBHOUSE

congratulations the the club members who agreed and names their own clubs as not being part of this shamefull practice...... i will certainly be promoting your clubs throughout the season in my rounds and will always have a drink and a chin wag after the game.....
as for naming the clubs who do it i dont think thats either neccessary or appropriate...... you will see them when they play at your ground and can identify for yourselves.....
i do believe that the more proactive comments and clubs we identify as being compliant with the spirit of the game will only serve to improve club relations aswell as this great game we all love...
congratulations again to those who have openly condemned this behaviour and good luck to your clubs and team for 2007...

You obviously don't know me, cos if you did you'd know better. Whatever happens in the 90mins there's always a beer in the club after the game home or away. So before you shoot your mouth off get your shit sorted.
I think you'll find it's spectators not the club. Not one of the clubs I have ever played with sold beers at away games.
Do a forum search on old posts you will understand fucking 4q dum dum
So to me this topic is done and dusted.

So how many games did you actually watch? you dont name clubs but blame anglo based teams, yet claim to not to have racist connotations!4q dum dum wrote:After watching some games on the weekend it was surprising to see how many teams travel and bring their own god damn eskies and sell drinks to their own team and players rather than supporting the home teams bar and kitchen....... this is an absolute disgrace and should be outlawed....i wont mention the teams as those who do it know who they are......and without any racist connotations it was unfortunately the anglo based teams who were the biggest offendersthis crappy practice has a follow on effect and i think its pathetic to prevent socializing during and after the game because they all bugger off back to their own clubs because spending twenty bucks elsewhere is gonna make them broke..... shame on all those who participate in this filthy practice...
Its something that has happened year after year in the amatuer league, by clubs of all fucking backgrounds.
Re: BYO at away games
Lol if we mentioned "ethnic teams" this would be racist but it's not racist if it's "Anglo Teams".Frappe wrote:I have to agree with you, Not to say ALL 'anglo'teams do this, but Ive never seen this low act from an 'ethnic' based team. What a load of bollocks - last year we played Vista, Ingle Farm and West Beach - Vista had a esky for the bus ride but bought plenty of drinks during the game, Ingle Farm did likewise and despite losing all came in and had a beer afterwards and West Beach almost drank us dry! Also Sturt Marion on Sunday bought beers for all their players after the game - now they all seemed pretty "Anglo" to me! Don't remember any other teams coming in after the game last year!

I was thinking the same thing.Brown paper bag crew wrote:Not bad for a moderator is he Knight7.
Last season I observed the opposite to what some people have posted. Ethnic teams were the the only clubs guilty of this practice. Had no problems with anglo's
El salvador were still sitting on our oval drinking out of esky's at 8:00pm
I'm very happy to have moved to West Ham, because I can play for a better team than Sheffield Wednesday.

Must be the long trips they make, we had to go out and get more beer and they finished that off too!Knight7 wrote:West Beach almost drank us dry!
I agree that you should buy drinks for the club you are at. The only excuse for bringing your own is if the club you are travelling to don't sell any (Aguila comes to mind)

Thankyou Knight7, I have never seen an "Anglo" based team bring their own drinks to Vista, probably the other way round, I've seen "Ethnic" teams bring their own, play their game, then feck off home! We always put money over the oppositions bar on away trips.

last in div 1 all teams supporters or players used our bar and had a feed and drink afterwards as well div 2 the year b4..
more dissapointing is whether due to pride it has been the greek clubs during preseason who have advoided doing so afterwards, but telling us prior in the week better have a bbq ready after the game and doing the bolt bar 1 or 2 persons..

LIVERPOOL FC *****
I think as a club playing away it is just courtesy to at least have a beer after the game there...We played Adelaide Wanderers on the wk/end & there coach was the only 1 after the game to stay behind for a drink.
I played in the B game and, like alot of the other B's players and associated non-playing followers that day, had a few while watching the A's game. Unfortunately I had to leave quick smart after the A's wrapped up.
I think the fact that we were playing a Sunday rather than a Saturday, a big night on the Saturday for most, the majority of us having to drive back to the other side of town and players being pissed off with the ref's actions/non-action in the last 15 of the game may have influenced this.
I must say though Farm did put on a BBQ after the A's game, both games were palyed hard but fair, so I would have liked to hang about for a drink and chat. Well in to Farm and good luck this season.

alm01, if your referring to the Raptors as one of those "Greek clubs" Your full of it!!!!!!!!!!!!alm01 wrote:last in div 1 all teams supporters or players used our bar and had a feed and drink afterwards as well div 2 the year b4..

We NEVER and I repeat NEVER said anything about a BBQ for after the game. We ask whether a BBQ was going to be available (due to the fact that some of the other clubs we had trail games with were not playing that there home grounds and didn't have a BBQ/Bar). It was one of YOUR Florina committee members/Players/supports who on this forum wrote that Florina will be having a BBQ during and AFTER THE GAME
So Alm01 get your facts right before you point the finger...ya DC!!!!

lol so much tension in this topic for what. Yes I'm a moderator, but why can't I quote the original poster?
I just gave my point of view. That does not make it correct or incorrect.
And realistically how racist is it really??? Doggers, Nips, Wogs, Japs, Yanks, Poms???? There now thats racist....see the difference?? go ahead and delete the topic, I will if you ask me!

If a club visits us and they dont want to come in for a beer after then so be it. it could be for a number of reasons, travel is a big consideration these days, i would like a few beers if im going to have one. As far as clubs bringing their own beer and selling it that would be wrong but no big deal. If your relying on income from teams visiting then you may want to rethink your income strategy. if you were to let teams know there is a complementary jug of beer in the clubrooms waiting for them then they usually stay and buy a round or two. As chemical brother said this is an old well worn subject that is not worth anymore time spent on it.
