One of my biggest memories of Italia 90 was watching Yugoslavia against Spain in the last 16 and losing to a Maradona lead Argentina in the quarter finals on penalties.

I can remember watching and squad with many players under 25 and thinking these guys had to be favourites for 94. The squad had names like Stojkovic, Boksic, Prosinecki, Jarni, Savicevic, Pancev, and Suker.

The Euro 92 qualifiers proved they were on their way, they out qualified Denmark but lost their spot due to the war, Denmark stepped in and went on to win it.

Wonder what would have happened if the war didn’t break out in ’92 and Yugoslavia went on to win Euro 92 and/ or the World Cup in 94, maybe the country would still be united………..nah probably not.
