no, its a whinge. and u POMS are very very good at it!

i agree if it was in the olympics we'd come 2nd. We'd lose to you aussies, it's probably the only thing left you'd win though.

once again calling me an aussie!

I will admit to laughing when clarke went for the review on trott, thinking brilliant he's just used up his reviews. Imagine my shock when he was given out.
I think they should be taking reviews down to 1 per innings, these should be to get rid of horror decisions not on a whim.

And yes, swings and roundabouts but DRS is supposed to get rid of that. eg. Even though I think Agar was out, I agree with the decision because it wasn't conclusive from the tv and as the umpire didn't give it, it should revert to that decision. That's when my complaint comes in. Original decision for trott was not out, without that hotspot camera it was inconclusive so should have reverted to umpires original decision of not out.[/quote]

Not sure why you would've been laughing when he appealed it?? At that point all we saw was the dismissal in real time. You hadn't even had the opportunity to hang on a rather paper thin technicality as they never mentioned the hotspot for a few minutes after. So your 1st drop gets caught bang infront with no double sound potentially leaving your team 2 down and 40 runs behind and you let out a fearless chuckle. I seriously doubt this.

because my immediate thought was "he's hit it". The "technicality" I was hanging on was the laws of the game.

Oh the hypocrisy, oh the double standards, oh the irony.....

Broad, though, stayed firmly put. Then again, it runs in the family. His father Chris was involved in one of the most notorious non-walking cases in the history of cricket.

It came in the Second Test at Lahore in 1987 — on the infamous tour of Pakistan that featured the bust-up between Mike Gatting and umpire Shakoor Rana.

Broad was given out — correctly — but refused to budge.

In fact, he stood there for a full minute until fellow opener Graham Gooch suggested it might be time for him to head back to the pavilion. He was later severely reprimanded.

The culprit here is clearly the umpire. Mind you, only getting cleaned bowled would only be more obvious. The ump needs to be stood down after such an obvious howler.
Now the DRS - again, Clarke is too quick to use up his options so early on, whereas Cook at least has a think about it and only calls for it if its truly believed to be very iffy.
Either the DRS needs tweaking, in that the umps call for it if they cant be sure and not leave it in the hands of the players, or dont use it at all.

WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND. No aussie can blame Broad for not walking, the aussies started that under captain grumpy.Oh, that reminds me, didn't you sheep shaggers bowl underarm once? You want to play "tough cricket", but don't like it when you are on the receiving end of some.

Whether he was given out rightly or not is irrelevant. If the umpire has given him out he should make his way back to the pavillion.

The usual collapse has Aussies on the ropes. Haddin and Agar need to build a strong partnership if Australia are going to win this test

Shit happens....if Australia's top order had got their shit together it would not have come down to one DRS decision.
Take it on the chin and move on....great spirit from most of the Australian team to get within 15 runs of an upset win.
Unlike Clinton...Australia came close but no cigar !

end of the day, the rules state that a batsmen is not out, until the umpire gives him out

Broad didnt have to walk, Aussies had no appeals left. Clarke stuffed up the last appeal he had left.
Cook and the Poms used their appeals very very well, making sure they inquired with Prior, bowler and then himself before appealing.

However, it just shows the character Broad is, if his father was a cheat and a sook, what do u expect from the son?

He SHOULD of walked, the edge was so obvious, but the umpire was at fault for not seeing the obvious. maybe a $$$$$ was exchanged???

Must be nice to finally replace the Britain in that sentence.... :D

Congrats on the win, and enthralling match and why T20 will never overtake this form of the game.
