Iggies vs Uni

Bs 3-0
Cs 3-3

Not blaming him for the result but Iggies club ref has no clue. I have no idea where he pulls some of his rulings from.

On that description I reckon his initials are RR. He's fair but makes some strange calls sometimes.

quick question for everyone , today in the 1st team game we had a lad who would of been no older than 13 .. 14 , it was his very first game as a linesman , he wasnt confident ( being his first game you can understand why ) my question is , why would'nt they start him in a reserves game ? are they that short of linesmen / referees ? im not taking anything away from the kid and i commend him for becoming a referee , but no way was he ready for a 1st team game

yes we did , im not using him as an excuse , we made our own mistakes today which cost us the game , im just stating that the kid on his first official game as an official linesmen , was not ready for a first team game , i just cant understand why they wouldnt bring him though the reserves

Who knows what numbers they had available, but the best way to learn is to jump in the deep end. Did you have official linesmen for the reserves? You didn't last week.

What was wrong with the young linesman? I didn't think he made any calls to the detriment of Modbury Jets...

i wasnt there for the reserves game today so im unable to comment on that , i dont know why but we've been struggling for linesmans in the 1st team game and referees for the reserves , but then talking to friends who also play amatuers tell me they get 3 officials for reserves and 1st team games , so who know's ...

like i said im not blaming anything on the kid , for his first game i thought he did alright , i thought one decision went against us but no ones perfect , all i was asking is why are they putting him straight into a first team game , he wasnt confident , and hes still learning , why not give him a few reserves games before he does first team games

One decision is pretty good. Vipers had two goals disallowed because he raised his flag for offside.

Age has nothing to do with it. He did well. I've seen many grown men do worse.
I heard someone mention that the kid recently moved here from Germany... that would probably explain why he may have 'looked' intimidated.
He was running the line on the far side of the pitch all game so can't comment on what he 'looked' like... but there was certainly no hesitation in his calls.

in the second half i was playing on his side , and let me tell you there was hesitation , plus he had his dad helping him on that side making decisions , i was having a chat with him as i was walking out at half time and he certainly did'nt sound like he was fresh from germany , i don't know i just think it was very unprofessional from the saasl , you would never see a 14 year old kid on his 1st game as a linesmen for an ffsa game

I would be more worried about the Refs performance....Lost control of the game and the players from both sides felt then needed to get it back...The guy was out of his depth and should be relegated to Div 4 or 5 games.

Seen club refs with more control.

It was the other assistant that forgot the deodorant....it seemed her pits needed airing quite a bit.

Seniors

McLaren DSC 3 Strathalbyn 1

Reserves

McLaren DSC 14 Strathalbyn 0

Thanks to all the lads that came up from Strath today - great sports and attitudes.

Good to meet up with Sean and Luke - real decent blokes.

Both games were good for all the right reasons, just stick with it lads your team is very very young and given the addition of a few older heads you will do well. I will shout you both a beer on the return game.

With general play he wasn't bad but he called an indirect free against our keeper who bounced the ball whilst in his possession. He also overruled a lot of linesmen calls when he wasn't anywhere near a good position. I would suggest Iggies look to find a new club ref who isn't such a control freak, thank god we don't have to put up with him until next season.
