On behalf of the bhoys I'd like to say thank you to nobby and all the people that have donated their time to make this happen. Even though we've copped a flogging most weeks we all walk off the pitch having had a good time. Thanks to all the people that ref, set up and take down goal nets etc and thanks to all the lads we've had the pleasure of playing against. HH.

A great experience for the young Modbury Jets boys (aka Talking Heads) who put on a good show during the competition but lucked out against older and wiser sides!

Cheers to Nobby and the volunteers at The Downs - a great community spirit you have there.

Downs 7aside Cup 2012

Semi Finals
Sick Dog Jackies 7 vs 2 INTERCourse. Close game with Inter 2 nil up. Then it was the Nathan Day show.
Possums & Squirrels 4 vs 2 Head Banging Billy Goats. Another close game with Possums making the final.

Position Playoffs
The Bhoys 3 vs 2 Agro Utd. The Bhoys record their first win and grab 6th place.
Dirty Sanchez 2 vs 4 Talkin Heads. Talkin Heads take out 5th position.

Grand Final
Sick Dog Jackies 5 vs 3 Possums & Squirrels. The final was a great spectacle with the Sick Dog Jackies claiming the Downs 7aside Cup 2012.

Cheers to all the teams who registered this year. It was great to see many clubs, both Amateur and Federation represented. Some great goals, great saves and great refereeing!
See you all next year, same format, approx same dates.

Some fantastic football in that grand final really was a pleasure to watch but I still cannot understand why referees, even in a small comp like this, want to be the centre of attention. Thankfully the football rose above it because I am sure all those players didn't get dressed up just to watch the ref.

 Sign of a good ref ORB, he doesn't have to use the whistle. I was feeling it a bit for him though after the grief he was copping from "neutral" supporters on the sidelines.

Quite frankly I think he deserved all the grief he was copping and possibly got off a bit lightly - may have got off lightly because the main protagonist began to struggle to put sentences together the longer the game went on.
