Future of Soceroos

Post by We Done Ya »

Its pretty obvious that the next Golden Generation of Soceroos is some time away (decades probably). But in the short to middle term (lets say 10 or so years) there are players who have shown enough potential. With years to develop and grow how will these guys go in the green and gold as the next generation?...
Matt Ryan*
Mitch Langerak*
Curtis Good*
Craig Goodwin*
Golec
Sainsbury
Behich
Williams (Ryan)
Vidosic
Rogic
Mooy
Mcgowan*
Herd*
Paartalu*
Tombides (Both)
Bulut
Leckie*
Kruse*
Amini
Oar*
Sarota*

*Have either represented Socceroos or should be candidate for immediate selection. The others probably need a bit more time

I know I would have missed at least half a dozen. But when you start putting names down you see that there is a lot of potential there coming through. Its just a matter of the right people guiding their development and club careers very carefully to ensure they reach the fullest potential. Whether that be here or overseas. Who else have I missed? (keeping in mind that besides Kruse and Vidosic they are pretty much 18-25).

A decent amount of them are player in the U19 AFC championship today! Watch the future! Well some of it!

the talent is there it is just that it is under-developed. We have a poor system to bring players into the national team mainly because the national team coaches we have at different levels have NFI

I think thats a bit harsh. They are trying to develop a style of play for the future. These sort of things don't just happen overnight. We're talking about and entire culture change here. Japanese football is currently working on their "50 year plan" for their game.

At the moment Japan could well become a world powerhouse of football. Australia have taken many steps backwards since the Asian Cup final loss

But Japan is nearly 20 years into that plan. They are planning from the ground up.
