Summer Training

Post by mancity »

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knew what summer training programs are around and if they are any good?
Looking for some training for my lad to do on a consistent basis during the off season.
Cheers

Can highly recommend Jeff Napier and his academy. It runs all year around and is great for players wanting to develop further or keep their fitness over the summer months.

Jeff Napier's academy is great if you are looking for fun with some structure.

thats the whole point of the backyard, that there is no structure, kids experiment themselves, find their own way. after all, isnt that what SSF is all about? simulating unstructured street football?

correct that's what SSF is all about, but kicking a ball around in a backyard is not necessarily going to help a junior/youth aged player develop their skills over summer nor help keep their match fitness up

Really ???? 1-2 hrs every night, having 'fun' and expressing and exploring won't do what your suggesting ??

But once or twice a week, doing drill after drill, sometimes standing stationery in lines, will ?

Kicking a ball around the park with your friends and attending an academy over summer aren't mutually exclusive.

Try telling the Brazilian & argentinan kids that play with a ball in parks & dirt streets every day & night doesn't help their development...... Every minute with a ball at ur feet will help development

Let's not forget the backyard/park is free and convenient.

Oh and match fitness? I'd take a technically unfit player over one who runs all day but has a 1st touch of a brick wall.
