If they qualify, imagine them in the Brazilian sun. Sad thing is, look at our next batch of youngsters - not many setting the world on fire either. Tough times ahead methinks unless next tier are shaken up and fast-tracked into some decent teams overseas and playing regular first team football.

Sad thing is that the next generation is not starring in the big Europeans.

But neither are the current crop either. Many don't even have a club and or are signing for clubs in lower leagues like Cahill to the MLS. So why not give some young kids a go instead of wasting time on known quantities like Thompson, Neill and sadly Ognenovski who was IMO terrible v Scotland.
We have kids like Williams, Ruka, Leckie, Bulut, Oar, Sarota, Lowry and Herd all playing in quality leagues, they deserve a chance far more then someone like Neill who is club less atm. Holger is happy to give Kruse many many chances which I have found odd since in the last 18 months he has literally played more 1st team football for the Socceroos then he has for his club, and yet still after nearly 20 caps he still runs around like a headless chook offering very little in attack or defence. Which made me feel a little sorry for Carney as everyone was ripping into him but Kruse was just as at fault as he was. We can't just blindly head towards a goal forgetting about what we're going to do once we get there.

I'd like to think we'll see the likes of Leckie, Kruse, Ruka, Spiranovic, Vidosic?, McKay, Milligan, Herd etc etc playing then

Agree I see no reason why Super Dario shouldn't be considered part of the next gen. If he can step up this season and become the player we all know he is. Everyone will be benefitting. Socceroos, AUFC, AUFC's bank account (if a transfer is on the cards!) and of course Super Dario himself!

Give Babalj 12 months and hopefully we have a news one in the making! Considering we were too stupid to pick him for the U23 qualifiers he'll probably get sick on waiting and go play for Croatia though!

He must be really fed up considering that he is Serb and is contracted to Red Star Belgrade!

the rest ive highlighted wouldnt do much better than one of the many younger guys that can still improve before then

IMO all those guys need to desperately be replaced. All have be fantastic servants to the Socceroos over their careers but new stock is required!

yeh i wont argue with that. we should keep a couple for the experience they bring and any impact they could make off the bench or in certain games e.g. bresh, schwarzer, cahill

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Holger get a big fat cheque if he qualifies for wcup..
Maybe that's all he's worrying about in qualifiers & that means age does not matter.
He has no incentive to play young players.
