Crap we are going to have to get a better cheating Ref for our club wide conspiracy as ypur Ref's seem to be much better at cheating us to Victoty. Cheers to ORB, at least his comments are constructive and free from menopausal hysteria. get back on the HRT ladies.

It’s quite ironic that you downs boys come on here and accuse us of cheats. The worst case of sportsmanship I have ever seen occurred down at Argana Park.

Rnd 1 +35 Cup 2008. Eliz Downs take a corner that goes so far behind the goals that all players start to head their way out to set up for the obvious goal kick. The ball curves back behind the goals where a downs player nonchalantly volleys the ball back to the goal and it happens to go in the net. The Ref gives a goal to all our amazement and rather than correct the ref and highlight that it was actually a goal kick, all the downs boys just trotted back to the half way mark laughing their heads off.

That proved to be the deciding goal which knocked us out of the +35 cup in its first year.

Feel free to come down off your high moral ground anytime you like. You guys have been less than perfect over the years.

Not just the Downs complaining on here mate, theres people from Inter, Farm, Downs & Vale

Thanks to the gully boys for a good tough game.

Funny how things can change. me thinks i detect the scent of a band wagon. As for the Farmers they were never in the hunt against us at home and if they openned both eyes they would have to agree that we should have spanked them as we did away with their Ref and weaker side. Why also would we feell the need to cheat against the Downs after we had already smashed them away and the Vale can have few complaints as they beat us with our cheating ref with ease. Wasnt there Sunday but was contacted within 20 mins of the finish by some of our boys who were embarassed with the Refs performance. We have tried to use him as little as possible ( He has only done 4 out of 8 home games i beleive and we have lost 2 of them) . Not because he is a cheat, but his style of letting things go which can lead to frustration and bad tackles. Dont bitch to me that we dont need Refs because we are all Choir boys (Yes you Downs, Inter,Farm,Vale), thats a load of crap. Having said that I must say that I have been very happy with the standard of club Refs over the past couple of years (excluding the obvious before you ask), Farms, Westies, Easts have been stand outs and the young lad at Jets Old Boys isnt bad either. We (all clubs) have to remember that although you get a bit of extra leway in +35s you will and should be sent of for getting in the Refs face and calling him a cheating c**t. Yes there is and should be red cards in+35s, the difference is they will not be sent in and no suspension is served.

could be a calamitous decision to let the old boys have longer sleep - reckon that inter may rue the decision to let these lions have more rest.

We've got the bye, could have grabbed a few of us to make up numbers, it's not like the result matters now anyway.

would you rather have a 5- a - side fact hunt?
What other games been forfeited?
Perhaps if all clubs took it as a social kick around for ageing bodies it would be ok.
Instead of trying to win a 10th division for glory????????????? LMFAO

Hey, hey, hey its 9th division.
TTG 1 - GROVE 4.. Ref did a great job but made one bad decision against Grove for a push in the back and a few jumped on the cheat bandwagon straight away, poor form there.. Overall a game played in the right spirit, well done to the Grove, outplayed us (in the end)

No SID just looking for putting 11 on the park each week ie doing as a club what you said you would do an honouring the committment made to the rest of the league at the beginning of the season. Not a question of trying to win just getting a run.

A very hungover and tired Downs Fossils team just edged Easties by the odd goal in a 9 goal feast at Easties on Sunday where surprisingly there were some very impressive passages of play. blue moon with an absolutely spanker was the pick of the goals.

Game was played in a great spirit which after recent controversy in the league was great to see and shows what it is all about in this league and thanks to the Easties boys who are a great bunch.

Funniest comment of the day goes to the Downs centre half, who had been overserved the previous night and was running out of steam in the second half shouting to his opponent before the corner was taken "Oi! Can you come over here so I can mark you?"

"Well in to the Downs Lads"
As stated good game, don't think the young Ref had much to worry about
All the best for the last few games.

Anyone else in the aged fraternity think we have been stiffed by the league only allowing two teams the opportunity to play at Hindmarsh? Admittedly Vale and Inter have been the two best teams but surely (magic of cup football and all that) there should be another couple of teams getting the chance to run out and at least make them to earn the right to play off? I reckon Inter and Vale would also feel better for it as well. Thoughts?

In the convoluted way that it ran initially yes - one team got through to the semis having only played two games from memory with two results coming from a forfeit - but don't tell me you wouldn't fancy a game at Hindmarsh with your mates?

lol, of course I would love a chance to play at Hindmarsh, but we had our time, I don't think the whole concept of a 35's cup, for what is very much a social kick around for most of us, is needed.

1/ There isn't enough teams
2/ There is like 5-6 ppl at the most watching these games
3/ You will get teams "loading up" to get a kick at Hindmarsh

I'm not a fan of the whole concept

Unfortunately the options were limited once this year’s O/35s season started with 11 teams. Twenty matches each plus 2 byes leaves no room to schedule additional cup round fixtures interspersed throughout the season. An Inter v Vale game would be a good game to see with some pretty good (albeit older) talent on display – but it probably shouldn’t be called a Cup Final if limited to just those two teams – more of a premiership play-off.

Format needs to be sorted out prior to season starting – hopefully next year a more traditional Cup competition can be accommodated.

Has anything formal been announced for this year’s cup – or is the top two playing off just an assumption based on last year?
