Mate Fulham have done very well to be where they are with so many juniors and womens teams. Pontians with less resources both physically and finacially are playing in the same div as your highest ranked team, so I thing the Pontians are doing very well and moving in the right direction by securing a 10 year lease
I know the Fulham history as I have been there over half of my life - Woodville's loss was our gain at the time as now we are the sole tenants in soccer season and unless we do a Paralowie Footy Club and get in arrears by as much as they did for years on end we can never been touched by council.

Yes you guys have done well in your short existence - defintely looking forward to our clash though and Im sure you would like to catch up with John as well after the game for a drink win, lose or draw.
John is a decent coach and will do well for Fulham going forward.

I would be interested to see how many clubs out there actually have their clubroom/ground all year round and how many share with cricket clubs during the summer? I know we have ours all year round. Can put a strain on resourses specially as the income drops over the summer months and we have to look at other avenues of income- hence our 7 a side comp. Plus we have the benefit of being able to host club functions there for up to 300 people.

Do fulham share with the cricket club?

Well done to Pontian in securing a ground. Always look forward to their awomse BBQs.
I think my drinking club has a soccer problem.....

Yes we share with the cricket club - we have it april 1st until Sept 30th and they have it oct 1st until March 31st.

Of course we do pre-season there and use the changerooms etc but for income purposes we dont start until April 1st.

And to be honest it works very well as it gives everyone a bit of a break from after the season until early Jan when it all starts to ramp up again.

Same at Vipers....Biggest issue is no Goal posts until cricket finishes.

FFSA don't want an Amature League team playing there, and they charge so much for ground hire that even teams aligned with them can't afford to play there

Congratulations to Karmann and everyone associated with Pontian's great to hear about another soccer club getting an opportunity to stand on their own two feet. All the very best to you all for a successful future.

At the end of the day the whole soccer community win when another club is established and allowed to grow. Hopefully you folks can build something big out there.

Played darts there a few times and like an above poster said the oval could do with a little TLC and whilst the facilities are not huge it does have a rather large veranda over looking the oval and the place has bags of potential for future additions and extentions. The Gweet will also love it and I'm sure will no doubt lament to anyone who will listen about the night he famously bagged out on 170 playing darts there.

Similar thing happened at O'Sullivan Beach...the O'Sullivan Beach Football Club left owing quite a bit, South Adelaide Panthers took on the management ( and the debt) of the complex and a few years back offered Southern Knights use of the ground on Sundays and training nights.
The O'Sullivan Beach complex now houses...South Adelaide Panthers Seniors and Juniors, The Pink Panthers, Southern Knights Soccer Club, Scorpion Judo Club, Southern Knights Boxing (run by Mark Franklin) and Southern Districts Junior Cricket teams during summer.
We have recently all but secured $266,000 for 2 more change rooms (mainly female changerooms).....
Next target is new lighting....unfortunately....however, despite Southern Knights concerted drinking efforts, bar and canteen taking go toward the whole complex.

Congrats to Pontian Eagles on securing a new home for their club....

Moving North is not the right move for the club. The club was formed in 1992 in the western suburbs and should have stayed there. There are plenty of grounds they could have got in the western suburbs.

yalumba dve is a goat track with unsatisfactory lighting which consists of 3 lights and 1 connected with extention cord hehe wet weather hazard, vandalism is terrible, toilet facilities will not b up 2 standard. Pretty much in need of a massive cash injection 2 the amount of $100k plus. Good luck with this 1

There you go Karmann the nay-sayers have spoken. All you good folk working your arses off down there at Eagleland are a bunch of :clown: 's - give it away you're wasting your time. If you announced you were moving to Hindmarsh they'd be whining about the length of the grass and the price of electricity to run the lights.

Its pretty darn easy to sit on your date and sling shite at hard working people trying to do something constructive. Where were all the bright ideas and willing workers when the hard work of finding a new base for the club was being done?

Do you date sitters honestly think that the doers of this world give two shites about your great ideas after the work has been done?

Well done to Pontians having a place to call home for the next 10 years. They have always been a very determined club and with knowing some of the old & new players around there, they will continue to be a very competative club.

Good luck..

Was out that way today and stopped in for a look...The verandah is excellent and has great potential.

It is an interesting area though, graffiti on houses not just fences  I would say you will need to get a sponsorship with Lockwood :P
The lighting does look a bit light on but hard to tell in the day time....Plenty of potential as someone said.

Seems a long way from Ferryden Park so I hope your players stick solid....Good luck.

On the flip side being up north offers opportunities to recruit and lure players away from other northern clubs. Interesting times ahead for Pontians

Out of curiosity, how many of your current players who have bagged us for being "northern scum" over the last few years will hang around now?

So, there has been enough time for the relocation to sink in with the players, what's the general consensus and feel about the move?

How does being in the Northern Suburbs make you loose culture or heritage? They are fucking long way from Greece mate. Most are born here and call themselves Greek anyway so I'm sure another 10 min drive wont change that.
WHY DO THEY CALL IT OVALTINE? I MEAN ITS ROUND, WHY DONT THEY CALL IT ROUNDTINE.

Lots of Greeks in Salisbury the pontian type . Greeks are generally well off and live in better suburbs but they will pay for petrol and make the trip
