Archives forum.

Post by Ernie Cooksey »

Swannie, we really need an archives forum on here for all your hard work to be collated and not lost amongst the thousands of threads already in Amateur League, (easily found as well as being all together in one spot, like an album of some sort).
It would be an excellent historical reference to the league, and contain many memories for hundreds, maybe thousands, of current and former players. The sooner the better, I think... And stickied!
Keep up the great work, I always find the stuff you dig up very interesting.

(Anyone agree/ disagree? I know the suggestion of extra forums gets knocked down pretty quickly, but I think this cause desreves it.)

agree...then it just needs to be updated each season...great idea...but no doubt would be ruined by some pathetic argument about foreign countries and poor club ref decisions

Just on this. Does the SAASL keep stats on how many games players have played? Amateur AFL teams seem to know about milestone games etc or is that because their clubs have kept excellent records?

It's both the Clubs & the League if a player leaves to another Club the League is notified how many games that player has played for there Club happens in junior Football as well. Pretty sure we dont do that, unfortunately ....

SAASL DIV.1 CHAMPIONS 73,75,78,02,10,11,13
CHALLENGE CUP WINNERS 74,75,80,08,10,11,13
SAASL DIV.1 RES. CHAMPIONS 71,75,77,78,79,94,11,13
RES. CUP WINNERS 73,75,76,13
CHAMPIONS OF CHAMPIONS 10
CICHANOWSKI SHIELD 90,08,11,12,14

That's a shame. The SASSL image would benefit greatly if they presented players with awards etc for 200/300 games etc.

I know Salisbury Inter have a tally of games played by each player (A's and other grades).
I think club legend Andon Antonoff played over 500 games for the club.

It would be great if the SAASL could provide this - depending on their computer system, they should be able to extract this data.

Would be good if next time someone is down at Headquarters asking whether this is possible. I assume they'd have kept all of the team sheets

I think the League lost (or threw away) a stack of records many years ago when they moved from the old Port Road site to their present site at Grange. Not sure what year that was however.

Unfortunately unable to do anything in any forum other than other sports. Like I've said before, I can't even merge relevant threads in the WW to that forum, can only move out. Sorry, but my capabilities are limited, otherwise I would sticky without hesitation.
