Socceroos starting 11

Post by Stuckey »

Ok its a perfect world everyone is fit and available.
Out of current players who would you pick? I feel as though we never see our best 11 ever.

Based on the 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 system.

................Schwarzer

Wilkshire..Neill..Ognenovski..Zullo
............Williams..Herd
......Holman..Cahill..Kewell
................Kennedy

Int: Valeri, Kilkenny, Jedinak, Rukavytsya, Brosque, Federici, Troisi

Personally I'd love to see Holger focus more on the young kids like Herd, Williams and Ruka. Continuing to rely on the older generation is going to bite us in the ass at some point.

We arrive at the first of the two clubs with the big name Socceroo signings over the off-season. While the FFA will be devastated that Sydney didn’t acquire Emerton and Kewell, sometimes things don’t work out that way.!

Shane Lowry - already touted as a future Millwall captain

Takes no sh*t and can play

as one Millwall fan described him

" He's got that angry bowl, prowling around ready to kick seven shades of shit out of anyone that so much as looks at him funny. Proper 'Wall!!

Yeah forgot Lowry. IMO Oar and Leckie aren't ready for the call up to my best 11. Oar probably no far away. We'll see how Leckie goes next season. Should be a massive one for him! Reus is gone and Munchingladbag should be in the UCL!

one should be in the 18 for some pace off the bench

Well in that case I would probably go with Oar. He has a bit more experience the Leckie ATM. Unless Burns starts playing regularly in Korea then I'd go with him over Leckie and Oar.

best role for him, linch hitter in the big games, old head to start in the lesser games, get another 2-3 years out of him, especially as he is in a lower standard league now, much like neill, the worry is after this wc many will retire at once and wether holger stays or goes, it will be a tough time for australian football

starting xi is so hard

mainly coz alot of our best players are similar. and there are some glaring weaknesses in some areas. its almost like our 2nd xi could beat our 1st. not sure if thats good or bad

but i think our best xi currently is

cahill----brosque
-----bresh----
williams---emerton
----jedinak----
mckay-lowry-og-wilkshire
----schwarzer---

herd, ruka, kruse, kennedy, kewell and younger guys like oar, amini, bratten all deserve a look-in too

keep giving the kids a go i say

yeh well i guess you could put him there next to kewell if you like. but no i dont believe there is any future to having neill there. not when you consider the group stages of the world cup should be the aim

time to let the next cb pair form an understanding. just my 2 cents

i believe the way forward is to stop picking by reputation. like i would have herd instead of emerton but we need some experience. we will find out how good the coach is because there is a decent team in there somewhere, just need the right combo

whole point of lucas neill going to the middle east was to condition him for asia and to give himself a few more years in the green and gold, has been one of our most consistent performers for years, you do not just drop the captain and a player of 60 odd caps

you do if he is really slow, poor in the air and is often responsible for cornthwaite like distribution

like i said just my opinion, i just thnk he will get shown up by better attacking players. og can do what neill does only better, then you can have someone with some pace next to him. im not sold on og either, just think he will be a more practical option in 2 years time

blinded by red glasses me thinks, og is better in the air, than neill, neills position is very good, you can give a yard or 2 of pace if you know where to be and can read the game well

his distibution in the last year to 18 months has been short to the easy option or long when under pressure, can't remember him giving it up needlessly, even in poor games he is generally one of our best
