RBE V Raptors
c's 0 - 2

The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas.

Cougars C's v Vikings 9-1.
Tough first half, Vikings lost a few quality players at HT then the flood gates opened.

Re: Trial Games 24/25th of March
Thanks to the Pontians players and supporters who came out to Frank Mitchell Park yesterday.
I must admit for a trial match we had a pretty big crowd with guesstimating above 150 people there to watch.
We had plenty of families with kids come out too which was excellent.
The first team got a taste of what Div 1 standard is like. Our side went down to a solid Pontian outfit 4-1 (3:1 HT).
With a few ex White City fed first team players lining up in the Pontian black and gold, the match was played at a high standard.
After relatively easy trials against Budapest and Macedonia, this one really gave us a bit of a reality check against a team who are very well organised, skillful and aggressive.
The Bs were outclassed, out run by the Pontian Bs who some of which look solid and pressing for selection. (Pontians winning 6:1)
Our last trial match will be against ISC Raptors @ Frank Mitchell Park this sunday.

Comets v GFC
As 2-1
Bs 4-1
Cs 4-2
Good competitive hitout. Both sides missing some key players.
Cheers to Comets - we'll see you soon in the league proper.

Sat 24/3
Pontian C's 2 - 2 ACU Falcons mixed A/B
All our boys who covered for the Pontian B's had a great time and was a great experience playing a different style of football than what we're used to.
Cheers Billy

Just an observation...
A lot of teams have given their comment on a trial match and followed it up with "played in good spirits"
Is there a lack of games played in good spirit these days that it has to be a tag line at the end of a match report?

No, just that some trial games lose their "trial/ friendly" demeanor.Off The Ball wrote:Just an observation...

By good spirits, I mean get match practice, fitness and sharpness without having to worry about whether or not you are going to get your body to the starting line in one piece, which is what it is really all about at this stage.

Polonia - Budapest
A's 6-1 ?
B's 6-2/ 7-2 ??
Solid hit out by the Polonia boys, looking a lot better then previous years IMO with a much younger team and an attacking approach.
Thanks to Budapest for coming out on a Sunday.
Should be an interesting season in Sunday Div 3

Thanks to Polonia for hosting the Budapest boys on Sunday.
Good luck for the season!
Budapest with a bit of work to do although very depleted on the day due to injuries and just getting the numbers there to play Sunday rather than on a Saturday.
At least the Polish beer was cold.

Kev is one of the fairest club refs going around, never lets things get out of control. If only there were more like him.

Titans impressed me a lot last year for their very good team spirit. This year they have impressed me with their determination to play proper football and continue to do so even if it doesn't quite work out.
When it clicks for them and should they avoid a lot of injuries/suspensions I can see them giving Div 2 a really good shake.

Thanks to Florina for coming out on the weekend. 3 good games with scores fairly even in all games. Barely recognized Florinas players, they must have about 30 new players all under 23 years old!
Great day out. Disappointed Uncle Cracker didn't come in for a drink or have a Yiros

Also handled a possibly explosive situation in the Cs game very, very well.

Leon is an excellent referee. Considering he's only been doing it for a couple of years, he uses the advantage rule really well. Ex players do make good referees. I sadly think we will lose him in the next few years.ontheblackburner wrote:Thank god you decided to give us Leon as the ref in Cs and Bs - he did very well, pass on my thanks.Jay Slowly Running wrote:Thanks to Florina for coming out on the weekend. 3 good games with scores fairly even in all games.
