i agree with what all of you are saying but its too late...
if everyone was really concerned about the duty of care and you all thought that the way the tournament was planned was not going to be safe for the players, why did the coaches allow the players to play....if clubs were worried about duty of care they wouldve pulled out of the tournament.

Correct me if I am wrong but the NSW tournament was meant to be played several weeks ago over a 2 day weekend. Due to their wet weather over the past few weeks it had to be rescheduled not once, but twice and thus you get them playing games on various nights of the week.

Doesn't matter how and when this cup is played there will always be someone whinging,

Too hot, Too Cold, No warm up, the lights brighter at one end, pitches too small, pitches too large, the list goes on and on.....

Funny how the forumites in other states are saying exactly the same things!!!!
The only thing we cannot control is the weather, regardless of who won how it was played and what the structure was in determining the groups there will always be someone who you cannot please.

I think it was JD who said improving each year etc....is a positive you can take out from the current system provided...Perhaps the draw can take place with club prepresenatives present. Perhaps the draw can take place with the coach & captain present for these age groups....or maybe just maybe the draw can take place each year at a different club...Which club to host? now that would be whinge fest in itself...

At the end of the day it is a tournament and if you are preparred physically & mentally and have a bit of luck on your side..you are good enough to go all the way....Well Done to Birkalla & Good Luck in representing this state...South Australia !

If I can bud in. My son was in this Man U cup over that weekend & if you want my view this is how I see it.
Not a problem with the grounds, they were good. What did not make any sence was the fact that 2 teams had to play 3 games on Monday with minimal rest. The weather was too hot & there would not be 1 person here that would allow their son or daughter be in the heat for 3 hours straight in their backyard & thats what happened. They were not only to the burning sun but they were also playing! I did not hear any players complain but the fact is that there was no duty of care from the FFSA. They could consider themselfs lucky that as far as I know no one was affected by the heat. My son had Tuesday off school due to sorness & sunburn even though he put on suncream & I agreed with him to stay home. The FFSA should have played at least the final on another day or night & maybe made a spectical of it in stead of getting it out the way as it seemed they did and always do. Birkalla was the better team in that 50 minutes & I think more fresh as A/C played 2 hard games before hand not to mention the tention on the players going into penalties. At the end they capitulated but on another day it could have been different. Birkalla were lucky in the semi that the goal Raiders did score was disallowed & they also did have a fairly easy run up to the end. Having said all that they had 3 chances in the final & scored 2 not to mention the first that was gifted by the A/C keeper. At the end this is what these cup games are all about.

In reply Mr Black, Raiders did NOT score a goal against Birkalla, not only did the line umpire say it definately was not a goal but so did many others, how about the great save the goalie did. At the very best if the wrong decision was made and the goal called it would have resulted in penalties.

Get over it , Birkalla fair and square - good luck birkalla , people like you whinging is bringing disrespect to the Raiders team who played brilliantly and dont deserve this.

Mr elen, settle down.... look at ALL i wrote & not what you took note of. I REPEAT Birkalla was the better team in only THAT 50 minutes. dont feel so insecure. This is the propblem of these forums. You have too many people who dont know how to have a discussion. By the look of it ellen does not know a thing about this game and is a novice parent. We call them linesmen or linespeople if you want to be policitly correct, line umpire I think is in that other game you must watch, your getting the games mixed up and therefore should not make any comment about anything to do with this game we call FOOTBALL or as you know it soccer. This is the round ball size 5. You can kick it & header it but you cant touch it unless your a keeper
PS many people said it was a goal and offcaurse your version is that many people said it was not a goal. You hear what you want to hear, I was just observing that game. WITH KNOCK OUT GAMES (thats when you lose your out) LUCK PLAYS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS GAME AND LUCK WENT YOUR WAY. It is what it is. What do I have to get over anyway? Stick to tennis if thats your thing.

You've gotta say that these would be football (sorry soccer supporters) have got no idea when it comes to terminology of our great game. Glad it never went to penalties which would have seen them be taken in the goal square no doubt............ :P :P
