Even i could have done that against that English defense. It would not have been done against a German or Italian defense.

This is what happens when you are 14 years old and havent seen a game before 1988.

Messi, while technically perfect has been able to walk into a superstar team and has super support. He has also done shiraz all for the national team.

Maradona went to Naples who finished 11th the season before he got there only one point from relegation.

First season Napoli finished 8th, second year 3rd, third year champions.

They had not one a championship before he arrived. They also won a second in 1990 and a UEFA cup (when the comp was actually good).

I would like to see Messi roll up at Newcastle now and do the same thing - that is sort of the equivalent.

Oh by the way he carried Argentina to a World Cup win apparently.

Stick to PS3 and jerking over C Ronaldo and all the new show ponies.

3 December 2011, Diego Maradona took another swipe at Pele, saying the former Brazil great must have taken the “wrong medication” when he suggested that Neymar was better than Lionel Messi.

Speaking in Dubai, Maradona acknowledged that Neymar — the young Brazilian striker playing for his native club Santos — was good, but insisted he would never be able to match Messi, the Argentina playmaker who netted his 16th league goal of the season for Barcelona this week.
Maradona, who coaches Al Wasl, has been at loggerheads with Pele for years. The two sparred last year when Pele criticised Maradona’s coaching of Argentina during the 2010 World Cup.
Pele has said that Neymar was “technically” better than Messi, but that the Brazilian has a lot to prove if he wants to be considered the best player in the world one day.

MARADONA: His life story in his words LIVE in Sydney, Melbourne

He became a footballing superstar and a 'God' to millions because of the magic he could perform with his head and feet but these days Diego Armando Maradona is as much a global icon because of the words that come out of his mouth.

With a life and times off the pitch that rival his incredible record on it, Maradona is undoubtedly one of the best interviews in world sport.

Next year the Argentine maestro will come to Australia for two EXCLUSIVE night's only for an intimate tell all interview with Australia's voice of football Les Murray.

Named by FIFA as the joint Player of the Century with Pele, Maradona will reveal his life story in his own words in a worldwide premier production, including never seen before footage of the footballing wizard in action.

The visit will be Maradona's first to Australia since he captained Argentina against the Socceroos in Sydney in a 1-1 World Cup qualifier draw in 1993 and the man known as 'Pibe de Oro' - 'Golden Boy' says he is itching to return to our shores.

“It has been many years since I have been to Australia so I am very excited to be coming to Sydney and Melbourne to share my story, all of it, with the people,” Maradona said.

The events host Les Murray admiration for Maradona goes back further than most, the infallible SBS anchor having commentated on the 1979 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan where Maradona first burst into global prominence by guiding Argentina to victory.

“Diego Maradona is a personality that has polarised the football community like no other,” Murray said.

“From his unmistakable brilliance and unbridled confidence on the pitch to the many aberrations that have marked his private life, one thing is certain - he has a story to tell.

“I can't wait to sit across from him and ask the questions, the real questions, that the Australian public are dying to ask.”

Despite being long retired Maradona still has an impeccable control over a ball and the 51-year-old will also participate in a game of 'Football Tennis' with a select few of Australia's biggest names, past and present.

The pre-show 250-person VIP event will be hosted by Australia's foremost football analyst, Mark Bosnich, with 30 lucky guests able to meet Maradona before he takes the stage.

TOUR DATES*:
Sat 21 Jan - The Plenary, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre
Wed 25 Jan - Allphones Arena, Sydney (Reduced Mode)
*Ticketek is selling for the above venues only.

I think it would be money better spent on flying to Europe to watch Lionel Messi "playing" rather than listen to a broken English tale from someone telling all how good they once were ! IMO
