Another Loss
Another loss this weekend for the AU Womens team, this time to the BYE!
Good to see this team is chewing up the good money of local clubs who are pumping it into the coffers each year.

What a sad , sad view of the pinnacle of South Australia's Women's Football .
From under 9's till under 15's/17's that is where the quality girls aspire to be and it's more about
the parents of those junior girls " Good Money " who want them to achieve the highest level than the
local clubs . And judging by the junior set ups of many clubs there aint too many " Pumping it In " hence
the state we've go into.
Negative people breed negative results.....

Re: Another Loss
this is just my opinion so please dont get offended by it. start playing the younger girls , there are plenty even in state league teams , our keepers have been a problem for ages , a keeper is only as good as there defenders in front of them that are supposed to protect them , if you have a bad defence even the best keepers in the world would get exposed , there are a couple of quality keepers in the lower divs, even one trialled and really didnt get much of a chance, for the rest of the season play the youngsters get some game time uder there belts and if we have a team next season then im sure they would benefit from it, just my opinion. and plus 10 game seasons...FFS what is this mini league!

Re: Another Loss
From memory, didn't all 3 of the girls who went over season with the U17's Australia team start last week? I think Dave has the right approach by starting these players, all seem more than capable of playing for the Lady Reds and will only keep getting better. There's also a few other quality younger players who are a bit older (17-20).John Cena wrote:this is just my opinion so please dont get offended by it. start playing the younger girls , there are plenty even in state league teams , our keepers have been a problem for ages , a keeper is only as good as there defenders in front of them that are supposed to protect them , if you have a bad defence even the best keepers in the world would get exposed , there are a couple of quality keepers in the lower divs, even one trialled and really didnt get much of a chance, for the rest of the season play the youngsters get some game time uder there belts and if we have a team next season then im sure they would benefit from it, just my opinion. and plus 10 game seasons...FFS what is this mini league!
Re: Another Loss

Re: Another Loss
Not really local club money, I would expect State and Federal govt money coming into FFSA for womens sport would be covering this.
We do need a national league team as a pinnacle and pathway for all the local girls U9 upwards.
Happy to have one or two o/s recruits who reside in Adelaide for the season to improve the standard but definitely no interstate fly-ins.
Not happy with any players regardless of playing ability or team position that do not present themselves in an appropriate athletic condition. As the pinnacle, their presentation sets the example for the young up and comers whom want to represent the state and national league team in the future. Just bring the next young one in line into the team, look long term not next week and the dividends will come. The leadership of the Lady Reds in setting goals would be very vital.

The players that do not present themselves as an elite sportsperson would, aka the thunderbirds, then they should be assisted to reach their best conditioning and if not adhered to replaced by someone who will go that extraS2enrab wrote:Not happy with any players regardless of playing ability or team position that do not present themselves in an appropriate athletic condition.

I think you will find it is up to the athlete and not their employer to get them into that condition, look at Mark Cosgrove. Was told to go away and come back when he has lost a number of kilos, not the clubs problem.Black Hawk wrote:The players that do not present themselves as an elite sportsperson would, aka the thunderbirds, then they should be assisted to reach their best conditioning and if not adhered to replaced by someone who will go that extraS2enrab wrote:Not happy with any players regardless of playing ability or team position that do not present themselves in an appropriate athletic condition.

Not that I'd encourage that.

As the pinnacle, their presentation sets the example for the young up and comers whom want to represent the state and national league team in the future.
They also need to be interested in the Junior girls who supprt them, not like prior to the season starting when they played a trial game at Underdale with the U14 STIC teams playing all day either side of them.
Rock up, play and go. Is this what good role models, mentors, some one to look up to and idolise does?
Only a very few were there interested in how the potential future lady reds players were doing.

Re: Another Loss
Tough call BEN9, train 3 times a week plus recovery sessions, work fulltime or Uni, boyfriend, family etc etc would not leave much time to watch STIC matches. But I am sure it would have been easy to have a few stay for photos and signatures.BEN9 wrote:As the pinnacle, their presentation sets the example for the young up and comers whom want to represent the state and national league team in the future.

The roll model/leadership part is by example.

Pretty sure most of the girls would not turn their backs on up and coming future Lady Reds.....All the girls are very approachable and would be more than happy to talk and sign anything. And I think you will find there were a couple of them that hung around after the game to socialize with the girls and watch the games......
How many from the AU mens team would hang around after a match....

some players have clear and deliberate motives to hang around.

Re: Another Loss
Good and valid points from everyone however, the issue of engagement for the betterment of the women’s game has been a topic many of us have brought up on this forum over the years.
Prems teams rock up just before their games and not to watch the juniors.
Juniors finish their games and mums and dads trot them off home.
At SASI games (a few years ago) the only spectators (on a week night) were the parents and friends. Where were the people from the clubs? State teams??? It bemused me why the teams were not encouraged or “programmed” to go and see what they should be aspiring to? Never happened. Bloody stupid if you ask me. It seems that everyone thought their comp was the most important thing and blow the rest. Peoples, the women’s game is not big enough or strong enough to withstand silos.
It doesn’t happen within a club so how does it supposed to happen at the Reds National League level. Clubs should be arranging for their teams to go and support the Reds. But it won’t happen because Adelaide City are doing a pre-season and the Reds don’t matter to them. The State teams won’t go coz on the days the Reds play they have a weekend off. Heard it all before.
This is just an example of the lack of collaboration and comradeship that will inevitably kill the comp.
There is an intrinsic culture that exists within the women’s league that will prevent it from reaching its full potential because people don’t want to collaborate.
