Re: World Cup in 2026
Not official yet but Spain, Portugal and Morocco are deemed to be favourites in a combined bid.
It's also rumoured England are going all the way to the Final!

No no! It’s the 100th Year Anniversary of the first World Cup held in 1930 in Uruguay .thebeautifulgame wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 1:40 pmNot official yet but Spain, Portugal and Morocco are deemed to be favourites in a combined bid.
South America hasn’t hosted it for a while so I think Uruguay will get the nod, but co-hosting with some neighbouring countries.

Re: World Cup in 2026
Because until 1950 the best teams didn't bother turning up because it was worthless and pointless to them. They competed in the home nations instead.eagleboy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 8:23 pmOk you have our attention. So Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland back then were better than the likes of Hungary, Brazil, West Germany, Italy, Uruguay.God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:51 amBecause until 1950 the best teams didn't bother turning up because it was worthless and pointless to them. Re: World Cup in 2026
Pointless? Is that was because one of the “best teams” called England was worried it will lose to the good ol’ U.S. of A. like it did in 1950?God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:51 amBecause until 1950 the best teams didn't bother turning up because it was worthless and pointless to them. Re: World Cup in 2026
Obviously GIAE doesn't rate these sides and where the games were played. England may have not made the cut. 1972 was also a non WC year.Con M wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 11:24 amPointless? Yes, pointless if the best teams aren't there.
England clearly didn't take 1950 seriously either. Hence, the team they named for that game.

1972 was definitely a non world cup year.
