Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
I might be the only one, but does anyone else think these would have to be the most boring and irrelevant sporting event in the history of International sporting events, I have not watched any of the events normally I love Olympic Games.
Even before the games started all the media hype put me off, all it is turning out to be is a giant training session for our athletes just a big publicity stunt to justify all the funding they are receiving .
With the facilities and coaches we have we should be way ahead of everyone, but then, does any one really care ?

Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
I worked at the Melbourne Games, the athletes love it - and it gives many a chance to compete against the best which they cant in Olympics etc.In the way wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 9:28 am I might be the only one, but does anyone else think these would have to be the most boring and irrelevant sporting event in the history of International sporting events, I have not watched any of the events normally I love Olympic Games.

Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
For standards I reckon it’s relative to the sport, obviously with naff sports like swimming & gymnastics most of the top rated opposition aren’t there. Though for some decent sports like hockey, track and field etc. it is still at a high level. Was watching the boxing last night and although there were a few good match ups some of it was a bit ordinary, quarters coming up next so still looking forward to a few good bouts.

Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
I would agree the athletes love it as shown by very few no shows. It can't and shouldn't be compared to the Olympics .Victor Meldrew wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 10:25 amI worked at the Melbourne Games, the athletes love it - and it gives many a chance to compete against the best which they cant in Olympics etc.In the way wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 9:28 am I might be the only one, but does anyone else think these would have to be the most boring and irrelevant sporting event in the history of International sporting events, I have not watched any of the events normally I love Olympic Games.

The attendences certainly shows the public are ok with it.
Be interesting to see the tv ratings but I would say that time difference means the majority of finals are in the early hours.

Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
Anyone who has earned a medal cherishes them - hardly pointless.
I am very very proud of mine. Lots of hard work goes into getting one.

I believe it was for rhythm gymnastics, not sure if it was with a ribbon or a ball though.Just Dave now wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 2:11 pmlol , i know you dont like answering my questions but i have to ask what did you get a commonwealth medal for apart from the gold for being the biggest knob on this forum ?Victor Meldrew wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 1:14 pm Anyone who has earned a medal cherishes them - hardly pointless.

Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
Imagine the medal tally if Australia team up with 3 other countries????

Considering they didn't compete as a team they competed as invidvidual countries you are wrong. Australia won.God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 8:39 amUnited KingdomCooper wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 11:21 pmWho won the 2022 commonwealth games?

Also, the UK won because they own most of the coutries in the competition.

Re: Commonwealth Games 2022
That question is irrelevant as the UK didn't not compete as a team, just the same as joining any other countries together.God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 9:34 amWho got more golds the United Kingdom or australia?Cooper wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 9:23 amConsidering they didn't compete as a team they competed as invidvidual countries you are wrong. Official medal tallys are the only results that count. Australia won.
