Cumberland United (1) vs Sturt (2) could go either way but don't see a draw coming

Adelaide City (1) vs Metro United (1) Actually think Metro will win but UWS get upset if I predict an upset against there beloved City so I'll go a draw

Fulham United (2) vs West Adelaide (1) West not living up to preseason hype at the moment can't see them toppling Fulham

Para Hills (0) vs Adelaide Uni (3) PHK to chase a win but not in same class as Uni if Chilean is playing plus new GK for Uni if I hear right

Cumberland United vs Sturt Marion : 2-1 to Cumberland in a close encounter

Adelaide City vs Metro United : 1-3 to Metro in an entertaining game

Fulham United vs West Adelaide : 2-0 to Fulham who are going along quite nicely

Para Hills vs Adelaide Uni : 2 all. If Rojas fires, maybe Uni just get over the line

Ha ha ha AWA. Why would I get upset if you predict a Metro win over City? Both of these teams are serious contenders for the title so a Metro win is a realistic tip. It was interesting to see everyone tipping Metro to beat City. As it was, the two teams battled to a draw in a high standard game. City did well to contain Metro considering Izzy Scalzi and two other starting players were out of their side. They were lucky at the end of the game when Metro missed two great chances to score the winner, but that is football.

Having Metro down to 10 for the last 20 minutes helped a bit I reckon.

should have had a few metro players off for the poor tackles they put on players. But hey that's football.

Isn't this typical of Metro against City? I must say, however, that was a top class refereeing display tonight.

I think city may be a bit deeper in defence than you think- there are a couple of young defenders there who are very capable.

I disagree. Metro played well despite the expulsion of its "enforcer." They actually continued to create some good chances and were unlucky not to snatch the winner in the end. Both teams were evenly matched although City were missing three key players.

Looking forward to the Round 8 game between Fulham and Metro. Should draw a reasonable crowd.

Given that you have stated that the referee had a 'top class' display in your own words, then the original comment that there should have been 'a few more red cards' is fundamentally incorrect. Agreed?

I didn't make the assertion that Metro should have had more players sent off. I was having a dig at Metro's traditionally overly physical approach against City. A couple of their players were constantly throwing their weight around (illegally) but only one of them was sent off. The other one was lucky. Despite this, the refereeing WAS top class. In the context of the Metro/City rivalry over the years, the referee controlled the game very well. A lesser referee may have lost control and allowed Metro to batter the City girls into submission as they have in the past. I will be fair and say that Metro were nowhere near as physical as they have been in the past. The exception to this was the girl that got sent off and one other player.

First of all, I didn't see the game. I'm merely trying to understand the inconsistencies in the logic that is being bandied about.

I never stated that you did make the assertion. You claimed that the the ref was 'top class' whilst another city supporter said the ref missed three more red cards.

You can't have a 'top game' and yet miss that many game deciding decisions.

I'm glad your being 'fair', given that you are a self proclaimed 'neutral' supporter. I would hate to think what you would write if you were a one eyed, biased supporter.

Snow White, didn't I say that Metro were unlucky not win? Did I not say that Metro were not as physical as they have been in the past? Would I write that if I was one-eyed and biased?

The referee WAS excellent. Sent off the repeat offender, communicated his decisions clearly and booked players from both teams correctly. He controlled the game superbly and it was in complete contrast to some of the incompetent displays by referees in the past (Particularly last season's title decider!).

I don't necessarily agree with the City supporter who claims more red cards should have been shown. The only thing that the referee missed was a certain Metro player continually pushing and shoving and throwing her weight around. However, she was pretty smart about how she used her body which the referee obviously found it hard to see. These were not game-deciding decisions, but the Metro girl continually gave herself a ball-winning advantage by using this approach. That is all I am saying.

Whilst I am a "neutral," I do like the way the City girls play and I enjoy watching them when I am not away for work. I admit that. I have friends at both City and Sturt-Marion.

I think we've missed the boat here about the real highlights of round 7. The Chilean player for Uni is awesome ad runs rings around the defenders. Good to see some class out there art Uni.

Para Hills still plugging along and slowly improving. City and Metro....well it's a typical Metro City clash. Always debate about supporters behaviour, physical aspect of game and could've been chances. Keep it going. Good game though.

Goals drying up for some teams.

Cumberland still struggling and with questionable tactics from defenders who like to pull on shirts and run face on towards on coming players. And of course when the opposition implements such tactics the coaches bench goes off and the manager has a talk to the referee. May I suggest playing fair Cumby

West Adelaide have become the new Elizabeth Vale will unfit, un coordinated and ageing "used to be starts" that are frustrated and cranky and play that way. Not sure what KM can do but if he is to stay, may I suggest a strong pre-season. The last 7 rounds have seen some good moments in WA's game plan however, I see some disunity out there.

Fulham. Some interesting results this year. At timers they look out of sorts and players look lost (some) and then in some cases, I see a coordinated and strong team work ethic. Some questioned Max's recruiting this year. I think that there is still a way to go but they are the quiet achievers. Sometimes I can sense a bot of angst amongst the players but they get the results. I'm confused.

Sturt sturt sturt. Perennial game postponers......Seen better days me thinks. Keep at it SM and focus on the basics like off and on field discipline and attention to the basic skills that underpin the game. And stop postponing GAMES.

You've done well to be across all 4 games at both venues on Friday night SAD GIRL. Kinda backs up what i've always thought about you. You're a regular wonder woman.

A couple of points i'd like to call you on regarding Fridays games.
It was the SM bench that was spoken to by the officials on Friday night, not the Cumberland bench. As for shirt pulling, well some of the Cumberland defenders weren't even close enough to the opposition to be able to pull their shirts.

As for Sturt postponing games...can I get some of the stuff you're smoking ?

Fulham, massive improvers on last years solid results. I expect them to be a potential finalist come grand final day.

About the only thing you got close to 100% correct was when you said "We've missed the boat"...should have said "I've missed the boat"

Parra hills still winless! Is that a premier league losing streak record? Of this club wants to move forward the coach has to go. His decisions at times have all of us baffled. The team is unfit, a very heavy, slow, average midfield that's started to play areal ping pong. Time to go JB

Journeyman.....Maybe I should have said I missed the boat however, I should have prefaced my comments with "although I provide my opinions under the heading of WNPL - Round 7 my comments are about what I have seen with each of the teams over the last 6-7 weeks" My apologies.

Apart from the SM comments (happy to be corrected) I reckon I'm spot on?? I don't smoke but I bet there is something being smoked at SM.

My comments about Cumby were from an earlier game.

I don't quite understand the West Adelaide ,Elizabeth Vale comparison as far as I know the women's team has never played prem. division football and don't aspire to as far as I know and if you are talking clubs one is a semi professional club and the other is an amateur club.

Yes, Elizabeth Vale were in Prems in the early 2000's, and recall them having one of the best goalkeepers at the time. Shannon........ ? I am not certain but I reckon they won the League or Cup one year. They had one terrific season.
I do not get what is meant by SAD GAL on Max and recruiting. I do agree that Fulham have had some ordinary times in some games but they have shown plenty of grit. They will gel better as the season goes on.

If you have been involved with women's football for a while you know that this is not at all a record  I mean, really! This makes me wonder if you know what you are talking about or if you just have an issue with JB and try to embarrass him here....
