Not usually :D

Do you mean about goal line technology, or the goal not being given ?

Well to the ref's defense, he would have had no way of seeing that, and from memory he had the official from SM running the line at that side, so I am sure he would not have flagged for it.

Great photo though swanny

maybe it was an "even upperer" for when the Sturt Marion GK was allegedly impeded when going for the ball, and led to the first goal. The linesman did flag, Referee didnt look at him. Credit to the Downs boys wanted it more, good luck in the next round.

Good game,especially the first half.

ball was well over the line, ref was in no position to see, young SM linesman didn't know what to do. No harm done.

You are correct...no goal.
Keeper did the correct thing and got on with it....it's not his decision to make...Keeper probably should have ask the referee if he could come back onto the pitch though
I did however think it was well over the line before I checked the photo.
No harm done, except for whatever Downs player may have thought he should have had a goal.

What makes you say that. I've seen club linesman signify a ball has crossed their goal line before.

It may be inconclusive to you Bomber, but we can from this photo work out whether it is in fact over the line!

Firstly we could send it over the road to the Dept of War and have them run the photo through their very expensive confusers, I mean computers with their equally expensive software to determine if the ball was in fact over the line,

or we could use the very long and drawn out process of mathematics and relationships using known quantities in the photo,
such as the size of

Grumpys head behind the goal,
the size of the upright, the net and the circumference of the ball, yadda,yaddayadda......

Well Chief would you believe that it is the third goal not given this year at that very goal?

It could prove costly, time we invested!

Did you get the photo of the keeper being pushed in the net?

PS. Did you get the photo of the keeper being shoved in the net for Downs first goal?

Twice the keeper was pushed, twice the ref stood thier motionless to gutless to make a decision.

Downs at home, go figure.

Sounding a bit sour there redders...the picture below is a photo seconds before the first goal...the only persons near Raffa are 2 Sturt Marion players...

Image

The next picture shows Sturt's keeper still in front of the line and the ball is in the net..... :?
From what I saw he missed the cross...looks like he's shaping to catch the ball rather than punch it too....if in doubt !

Image

He may have been hip and shouldered for the "goal" that wasn't given...but that didn't change the scoreline.
Any other theories ??

I don't support either club.
You can't tell from the first photo which direction number 21's momentum is going, but his eyes are certainly on the keeper rather than the ball and from where he ends up in the second photo, and the fact that the Sturt defender is still standing, it might indicate that 21 collected the keeper. Whether that's what let the ball run through, or if it was the keeper misjudging & going under the ball, you just can't tell from the photo's.

Yet the keeper still wasn't "shoved into the net" as has been suggested.
But you can tell which direction number 21's momentum is going ????
He looks more like he is going to collect Sturt's No.2..who appears to have his eyes/head focussed to the same point as the Downs player !!!!
Plus Sturt's No.2 also has the look that he may made a mistake (collected his own keeper perhaps ? )...but you just can't tell from the photo.....
Where were you observing from redders, were you over on the Eastern side with Mr. Buckley...I was about 20 metres away ?
Furthermore, why imply a referee is "gutless" just because he didn't make the decision(s) you wanted....?

The photos contain two different people, 21 is in the second photo but not the first

Maybe SM be asking how there striker missed from five yards out at nil all more so than worrying about a push on the keeper.

Hey swannsong, you're normally quite sensible on here.
What I said was that you can't tell 21's momentum.
Don't ask for other theories if you don't want them. I couldn't give a flying duck.

Quick call Crime Scene Investigation & get them to study the photo's ???

Downs Won the game & it didn't affect the outcome ?

WTF are you on about SAASL Goal Line Technology swannsong?

What do you want to install video camera on every Amateur Goal in S.A then when it's close get the ref to go revue it ?

Football doesn't need technology to FK it up! Referee's make mistakes & so do players...
