Calling all Chesea fans
Can any of you really agree with this?
Having this article on your official website is utterly bizarre!

Re: Calling all Chesea fans
This bit was pretty funny "For Manchester United, of course, it's entirely different. A trip to London for Mancunians, whether for a footballing occasion or at any other time, is hugely exciting - all those grand buildings and bright lights and shops with their own electricity. They love all that."
I must admit, I hope we lose to Shalke in the semis, it just won't be the same playing the final at Wembley, I'd rather not win it at all.

Re: Calling all Chesea fans
well its Giles Smith a weekly columnist on the site who usually has a decent article
he is not going to write anything negative about the club on the official site is he??
i dont agree with what he says about the champions league not meaning as much at Wembley etc
But i do agree that the door has not shut at Chelsea, we have money and still the best list of players in the Premier League (my opinion). Its been a difficult season with a lot of issues at the clubs starting with the Terry and Cole saga to the Ray Wilkins sacking etc
be good to start fresh next year with a clean out of some players and hopefully a couple of new faces

Bahahahaha!! that is the most stupid article....pretty sure you'd take a CL cup anywhere, no matter where it was played.

Having read that, I wonder if Roma lost the final in '84 on purpose? They didn't fancy winning it in front of their own fans.

Re: Calling all Chesea fans
I actually see where he is coming from.
Obviously, not wanting to win it is tongue in cheek, It's a thing called humour - I'm suprised you aussies haven't heard of it.
BUT he has a point, when you think of european final you don't think of wembley. Wembley is soup de jour for the big English clubs like chelsea, man u and Millwall.

Who wants to win the Champions League at Wembley, anyway?
The English psyche summed up in one short sentence

Just finished reading that article hahaha mate when you win the Champions League, nobody remembers what the shiraz weather was like, if it was rainin or cold.
I remember reading Fergies biography and how badly he wanted to win it in Glasgow or even at Old Trafford... Its special to win it in your backyard
Bloke that wrote that article has no idea

Re: Calling all Chesea fans
I thought it was stupid. I actually stopped reading it about half way through.
What annoys me more is that it looks like Carlo is going to leave
I really wish we could have 1 coach for a few years ffs.

Re: Calling all Chesea fans
I didn't step foot in Aus until 1991, that was for a holiday.
Came back in 1998 and 2001 for holidays with my Aussie wife, and moved here in 2004.

I didn't translate "utterly bizarre" to mean humorous, no.e-football wrote:I have 2 passports but I am as English as GIAE.

Re: Calling all Chesea fans
I put the item on for reaction, and like a few others I don't do blue text.
Re: Calling all Chesea fans
If you don't use blue text on a comment then it immediately becomes devoid of any humour or sarcasm even if that was the intended purpose.e-football wrote:I put the item on for reaction, and like a few others I don't do blue text.
Get with it

You would love blue text, but you don't have a screen with anything but green do you?
