From this portal you can access online courses developed by the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport.
About the Beginning Coaching General Principles course

The course is aimed at first time and beginner coaches (eg. parents). The course contains five modules and will take approximately six hours to complete. There is assessment included within each module of the course.

What you need to know before you enrol

The course is initially being offered free of charge, only to those people with a valid Australian postal address. The course is subsidised by the Australian Sports Commission to encourage beginner coaches to undertake training. Learners are encouraged only to enrol if they are genuinely interested in completing the course. Learners will have six months from the date of registration to complete the course.

Please consider carefully when to enrol in the course, to make best use of the time you have available to complete it. Learners who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate and have their details recorded on the Australian Sports Commission’s national coaching database. Please ensure that you accurately enter your full name when registering for the course, as this will be the name that appears on your certificate.

Computer requirements to undertake the course

In order to undertake the course you will need access to a computer with the following:
  • *An internet connection (dial up or broadband)
*An operating system of at least Windows 98 or Mac OS 9
*An internet browser – minimum requirement for Windows users is *Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and above, or Mozilla Firefox 1.0 and above. For Macintosh users, Safari 1.2 and above must be used.
*Note that you will be asked to download Adobe Flash player and Adobe Acrobat reader (both are free downloads) in order to access certain aspects of the course.
    *An email address.
Accreditation option

For those coaches who wish to become accredited, the Beginning Coaching General Principles course provides the first step towards accreditation. The next step is to complete a sports specific coaching course in order to achieve accreditation as a coach.

Active After-School Communities

For those coaches who are completing the course as part of their involvement in the Active After-school Communities (AASC) program, the next step is to complete a face to face training course to complete the AASC Community Coach Training Program requirements.

Preview pages

Before you enrol in the course, you might like to view several example pages from the course to gain an understanding of the types of activities you will be expected to complete during the course. To access the preview pages, click on the ‘back’ button and then click on ‘preview’ to view some example pages.
It's easy, just takes a bit of time.
