Sadly I agree Con, but once the first Palace goal went in, Liverpool should killed the tempo and shut the game down.Con M wrote:Liverpool completed chucking away the title this morn by drawing 3-3 at Palace, after leading by 3 at one stage. I love the fact you have used the word obtuse.....such a Kop thing to say.
It was not so long ago that yourself and Tanner insisted that winning a trophy outweighed the impotance of making the top four and now you have finally made the Champions League, it appears your views have changed.

Apparently he's like that all the time.

I'd rather have a decent trophy any day.

Re: EPL 2013/2014
There's a difference between finishing 4th & having no realistic shot at the title and finishing 2nd and chasing the title down to the last game of the season.
I'd absolutely take a trophy ahead of 4th with no obvious signs of improvement.

There is actually no difference at all, please tell me what you get out of second place?
We will finish top four, with more points than last year and fingers crossed with the FA cup as a bonus.
Lets see how Liverpool cope playing in the CL next year.........They have done an excellent job this year, but it wont be the same next year.

I think you misunderstood the part about actually challenging for the title rather than making up the numbers.Derek wrote:BTAC wrote:There's a difference between finishing 4th & having no realistic shot at the title and finishing 2nd and chasing the title down to the last game of the season.

Big difference between 4th and 2nd, quite a bit of prizemoney and CL TV distribution pool money and qualifiers in August.

As for just making up the numbers, surely everyone apart from the team that wins the league are making up the numbers???

I've heard a lot about "how will Liverpool cope with Europe commitments", as if to say we won't strengthen in the summer. I mean our owners who made funds for transfers available when we were out of CL are suddenly gonna rush to bank the 40m...

Re: EPL 2013/2014
What's there to dodge?
It's much more than 5m when you factor in TV pool from CL, 2nd place gets 30%, 4th place gets 10%.
This years pool for English teams was around 50m, on current numbers it's a 10m difference. Next year apparently a new deal with BT kicks in so should be a bigger variance.
It's the annual salary of at least 2-3 quality players, so not chump change.

But as Rodgers says that wouldn't be sporting football. Liverpool playing this way against the likes of Bayern, Real (anyone) Barca, Juve etc will be interesting.ozzie owl wrote:Sadly I agree Con, but once the first Palace goal went in, Liverpool should killed the tempo and shut the game down.Con M wrote:Liverpool completed chucking away the title this morn by drawing 3-3 at Palace, after leading by 3 at one stage. Re: EPL 2013/2014
Did anyone watch the Utd v Hull game this morning? I did, and to be honest, I swore that they were showing the wrong footage before kick-off, almost looked at 5mins to kick-off, and even the commentators said the same thing, that the ground was less than half full??? Even during the game, there huge pockets of vacant seats, yet they somehow pulled the full house ticket sale number of 75341????
Looked far less than that there to me, or is that saying that every ticket was sold, yet all may not have attended, as I thought that the number for attendances went on tickets scanned through the gate :?

However, this incredible number of record sackings has still got a way to go with some of the others.

6 games to go, we had to play both Mancs, Chelsea, who would have backed us to stay up? only the 2nd EPL team to stay up after being bottom at Christmas. Incredible that we could possibly finish 12th after the final day. Get on on the Gus bus!!!!Con M wrote:I think you're right now - Gus has got them up to 14th & would be unlucky to get the chop.Mackem Lad wrote:If Sunderland stay up Poyet will not be sackedCon M wrote: The EPL is already up to 10 sacked managers, eclipsing the record 9 sacked ones from the 95/96 season. They have to include season ticket holders in the final figure, even if they hadn't rocked up. Same thing been happening at the Emirates last couple games too.Chaos wrote:Did anyone watch the Utd v Hull game this morning? Against West Ham, Emirates was slightly lower than usual, Against West Brom And Newcastle, there was nothing of the sort as what you have just said. But still, if the season ticket holder does not go, how can this reflect on crowd numbers?? If their ticket is not swiped, then how do they register as a crowd figure???
