Chelsea's brand of football is disgusting to watch but it got the job done so no complaints. Liverpool never looked likely to score
Have to agree for a club that has spent mega millions they are boring to watch but in big games it works. Is this the most expensive bus on the planet?
However in regards to time wasting the referee should have thrown a few yellows in the first half, that would have killed it off.
...what did you expect....its almost ironic that the leader who apparently galvanised the team with tears of joy at the end of the City game may have cost his team the title...
BTW - when does irony become comedy gold???

And, at the other end of the table, a couple of goals given away by Fulham may well cost them their Premiership place, and Villa are doing their level best to get dragged into the relegation battle.
Both ends going down to the last day.

Gerrard crying was more due to the fact that it was the hillsborough anniversary.
Tough loss to take. Chelsea really didn't come to score. If we didn't make any errors in defence, they would have continued to sit back. I wouldn't call it a great tactical display from Chelsea. Any coach can tell his team to sit back on the box for 90 minutes. Chelsea's team had enough quality to deal Liverpool's attacks. Just have to go out and hope city slip up and hope we continue to win.
Once it was clear Chelsea came to negate rather than play, cant see why Liverpool still chased the game early on when they could have sat back as well and played out a bore 0-0 draw. It would have been enough!
I wonder if Gombau and AU supporters learnt anything out of that game.
Oh well, our neighbours in Toffeeland could still come good for us........

my son and I said exactly the same thing, what was Rodgers thinking?
Maybe he wasn't and his ego preceded him and he's begun to believe all the hype, but either way it's a good lesson to learn.

yes it was a great tactical display.....stopping a team which has scored 96 goals from scoring is a legitimate part of the game (ala CCM V Adl). Pundits must stop referring to this game in isolation.....Chelsea's season was also on the line.....they knew that Liverpool had more to lose and encouraged them to attack knowing that they could hold them out (with their B' Team).

You know your seasons going bad when you see a game in hand as a chance to do even more damage to our Goals Against!
4 years ago we finished above Liverpool, theyre fighting for the premiership and we could soon be fighting for the championship!

Mers, do you think Paul Lambert could be the 11th EPL manager to be sacked this season?
The EPL is already up to 10 sacked managers, eclipsing the record 9 sacked ones from the 95/96 season. IMO this record still has legs, with the trio of relegated clubs to probably bring out the axe. And maybe clubs that finish 15th, 16th & 17th too.

If Sunderland stay up Poyet will not be sacked

The apprentice was out coached by his master - as ugly as it was. Unless Everton can do us a favour and get something off City, the title is all but gone. City wont slip up in their last 2 games which are both at home

I don't actually think Chelsea's season was on the line. Mourinho played a weaker team after ruling them out of the title race. He made it clear Chelsea weren't in the title race and really put it on liverpool to come out and win (I'm well aware of mourinho's mind games).
The Everton-city game will be big. It'll be a massive boost for us if city drop points.

I agree & in the last one, as I cant see them picking themselves up! Many in the past have failed to find form again after a long unbeaten run comes to an end. Confidence shot & Stevie G will be shattered!

about as likely as the Goons losing at Norwich

Yep. Routine 3-0 against Pardew's pack.
Players looked a bit tired, spark lacking after long long season. Hope Wenger drives them to bury West Brom and secure 4th place, then rest a few before the 17/5 FA Cup Final.

Hopefully it won't matter, fourth will be stitched up and we can rest some tired legs before the cup final.

Haha. I was kind of hoping that Spurs would drop some points on the run in so they don't have to play in the silly Europa Cup next year, but Man United seem to be intent on avoiding it as well

10 points from our last 4 games and we've played Man City, Utd & Chelsea all away makes you wonder why we are fighting to stay up but we look good now two home games.

Arsenal into the rich Champions League (again). Bound to rest some players now so they are fresh for some F.A. Cup silverware on 17/5 at Wembley (1.30 am 18/5 Adelaide time).
Must strengthen the squad big-time for next season to avoid the injury horrors of the last months.
