Re: Cup Second Round Results
A's St Peters 3 Stirling 1 - (Apparently) we gave away 2 soft goals early, after which it was a pretty even game. After we pulled a goal back we had most of the game and were pushing for the equaliser, eventually letting in a late goal. Congrats to St Peters who were a good team and did enough to deserve their win.

Fair to say we were terrible today and McLaren played for 90mins and probably deserved to win given how poor we were. Not one of their people came in after the game for a drink which was disappointing but it happens.
Just a comment about the ref today. Whilst we felt aggrieved by some decisions today and as a player I am often guilty of letting them know how I feel, for a 17 year old I thought he handled himself very well. The game got very heated in the 2nd half but overall I thought the ref deserved a positive mention.
From a McLaren perspective. Sorry we didn’t stay for a drink after the game – as most southern teams will tell you 90% of our team are under 18 and cannot legally stay for a drink. Coupled with this is the despicable way your lot reared up at us at the end of the game, particularly your keeper who threatened to smack one of our lads for tipping his cap – yes the ref had a very good game and had he thought there was anything in the keeper / player incident would have called it. I was threatened by a couple of your players when I tried to get between the keeper and player.
Most of the lads shook hands after the game but the odd few were adamant that they were ripped off and had been threatened and abused by my young lads (average age of 18) and refused, telling us to shiraz off.
We watched Polonia over the last three weeks and were amazed that this week we did not recognize any of their players. After the game we spoke with one of their lads who told us we played 90% of their A grade, the same team that knocked out Adelaide Uni Premier team in the previous round.
Honestly couldn’t give a t=oss who we play or their grade, just be honest with us. We really feel for your genuine B grade who missed out today – yes the A grade players were probably not cup tied, as you claim, but does take the pi-ss out of the reserves when they are not even allowed to play their own cup game. One player after the game said that he knew that it would eventually catch up with them had they got into the latter stages of the cup.
I am not going to get into a slanging match with a club that we held the utmost respect for – but at the end of the day take it for what it is – we scored three you scored two – we are I the next round – and we wish you all the best for the season.

I see that you think that "tipping my cap" is acceptable behaviour and if that's the way you lot are teaching your team of "young lads" then they deserve all the agro they get from other teams.
Your lads also seem to think that threatening players on the pitch and then trying to shake hands makes everything better. I'm sorry, but if you hit me in the face, I'm naturally going to want to hit you regardless of your bloody age. Good riddance to your team of arrogant, petulant, smart arse kids. The fact you're defending their actions make me feel very sorry for their "development". Cheers for taking an interest into the way we run our club too you numpty.

I have known and played against many of the Villa A and B lads for many years, and have never found them to act in this manner, and we've had some tough battles on the field. I've also been to a couple of their card nights, and found all of them to be very inviting and hospitable.
At one of their home games a couple years ago, I even regretfully lost my cool after being red carded during a game, and Villa's response? One of their committee members personally bought me a scotch into the change room and had a sympathetic chat with me.
Not condoning this behavior if true, but doesn't sound like the A.Villa I know, and as n8 said, there's always two sides to the tale.

Re: Cup Second Round Results
Thanks for the kind words from the Hawks captain to the Downs. As was an entertaining game for sure with plenty of goals.
Raptors Cs played Downs earlier in the day for a 2-2 draw also. Lot of good lads there too but the "coach" needs to learn to relax a bit carrying on like a pork chop at the end letting his team down with his behavior.

You're too fond of Charlie Gallagher and Harry Hood. You wouldn't win a league with 11 Charlie Gallaghers or Harry Hoods

"We decided to mix the teams for the cup comps this year to try and progress as far as possible. Today didn't work out for us but I'm not bitter about it. We're not the only club to have done it and we certainly won't be the last."
Nothing wrong with this as some teams do this & it's within the rules.
For me I'd rather scrap the "Reserves Cup" & replace it with a league cup (clubs in your on league) where teams could play any player in their club whether they were still in the "Seniors Cup" or not. The "Reserves Cup" is a Clayton's Cup.

On a side note, good to see the Villa sides as the only remaining Div.2 sides left represented in the Cup. Especially in the reserves, after many years of struggling. Hopefully it can last a little longer.
