Re: Man Utd
EPL- Enjoy it for what it is- great entertainment and extremely passionate. Who cares if Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, etc. attract the biggest crowd or perform well or poor in what after all are friendlies. I am more excited that the big four all have new managers and look forward to how they deal with the media and the pressure. I have no loyalty to any of these clubs but I am willing to stick my neck out and say Moyes will outlast the others by many years (though I think Rodgers will be given a reasonable amount of time). As for Chelsea and Man City I don't hold out much hope for a long term stay- especially the 'Special One' as he is obviously all about himself. Loyalty is a rare thing in the game but Man Utd IMO go the extra yard to reward players, coaches and management from within as this helps sustain team spirit and continuity. Liverpool used to have this (especially managers) but they seem to have lost their way in recent years.
Man U are not a hire and fire club traditionally but I suppose Moyes is expected to follow in the shadow of Ferguson and I expect him to rise to the challenge. I would like to see clubs giving their managers more time to deliver- disgusting the way Benitez was treated at Chelsea and through it all he kept his dignity- top man and can't speak of him highly enough.
As for EPL, pity it prospers as the National side fall down the rankings. No surprise here as the clubs are filled with non-Englishmen or Englishmen playing in the lower divisions. The top guys (Gerrard, Lampard, Terrie etc.) are nearing the end of their careers and even more so the best player is Gareth Bale (a Welshman). Money is the god and the EPL is heaven on earth for most of the top earning foreigners and they are loyal to cashflow and not their clubs. If this continues British football on International terms will disappear in to oblivion and will never recover.

The scousers comparing their game and the atmosphere to the Man Utd one, I guess when u cant win the EPL title for over 23 years now, u need something to hold on to!

Some Man U fans are so plastic that they support Napoli as well.

That has got to be the worst penalty shoot out in history. Man Utd didn't deserve to win that.

David Moyes has promised that Manchester United will be in a European competition next year..........even if he has to write the song himself.

Nah, no need to enter that Eurovision contest - he's still got big guns Rooney & van Purseman to come back and will throw everything at the Euro Champions League matches. Not sure if Mata will qualify for those though if he played earlier for Chelski.God is an Englishman wrote:David Moyes has promised that Manchester United will be in a European competition next year..........even if he has to write the song himself.
Can't see them winning the Champions League but Man U. still got enough money to come 5th in the EPL and get into the 2014/2015 Europa Cup

Still find it amusing the silence of so many Man U people, you know, the ones who had so much to say when things were a little different.
Shows their true character (or rather lack thereof)

Re: Man Utd
In all seriousness what a game! Sunderland played well for the first 30-35 mins but struggled defending the advancing Fabio and Buttner (who was horrible). Borini battled hard and United were quick to shut down Johnson as often as possible. Ki was his ever reliant self and it was good to see Cattermole putting in the yards without giving away too many silly fouls.
The United goal was very disappointing with Welbeck getting in front of Bardsley and flicking it on for Evans who Oshea didn't track......
Ironically:
Bardsley (ex United)
Oshea (ex United)
Evans (ex sunderland)
Welbeck (ex Sunderland)
The two goals at the end of extra time were both poor if I'm to be honest Bardo bought a ticket as they say and Hernandez had an open goal at the far post. As for the shoot out well, let's be fair these two teams slugged it out all game and then had to take pens? Brilliant for anyone other than a Red Devils fan this morning.......
....... Bring on Man Shitty
P.s. I wonder if Poyet just doubled the price of Mannone??

Serious question. Are you worried about Sunderland doing a Birmingham and winning the league cup in the same season they get relegated?Outlaw 2.0 wrote:In all seriousness what a game! Is there any point going for a trophy at the cost of getting relegated?

We are only a point from the safety zone.
I'm confident we will be ahead of Cardiff & West Ham by season's end, and Swansea are in a freefall at the moment. Palace need to sack their new manager - he's getting too many points.
Plus there is about 11 games to be played still after the Final.

you don't get open top bus tours for avoiding relegation. As a kid did you dream of lifting a cup at Wembley or avoiding relegation?
