Rather a surreal experience rocking up at the carpark knowing the result didn't matter. Having said that that all disappeared when we took to the pitch. Congratulations to Flinders being the first team to put three goals past me this season. You didn't have to add a fourth thought!

Division Two:
B's: Comets 0 Adelaide 1
Unless Iggies win by a margin of double figures this should give FCA the title too. I played a few of these games too so overall it's been a good comeback season (and one I survived without injury). Comets missed a penalty but justice was done as it was never a penalty.

was a hard fought tight game in the Bs, us comets missed a penalty in the second half and probably outplayed FC in the second half, but what i dont get is why would a mid 30s to 40 yo wana punch and start against a 18 yo...well done to the other Fc players telling AA to pull his head in.,.........was a very good game and congrats to FC for winning the title.......
i thought the penalty was there bodo, big push from behind anyway very proud how the boys played....ill enjoy retirement now 8)

B at Vipers 2-3 loss
C v Murray Bridge 2-3 loss

E v Vipers 3-2 win

Good day out at Vipers today.

The end to the Division 6 game was interesting  It was commented later at the pub that it was the best club ref that they have had this season, so well in to whoever it was. The Es had a great season. I think only about 4 or 5 of those blokes had ever played organised football before, and they ended up 2nd or 3rd.
You forgot to mention the "fight" that happened at the end of the game :D
Kitchimo wrote: We had two goals disallowed in the Div 2B game but also our keeper sent off 3 minutes into the second half for a brain fade which put our backs against the wall. The (official) referee had some interesting interpretations of the laws of the game, especially the 'tying up shoe laces' and 'shirts tucked in' rule. Vipers scored a goalmouth scramble with about 2 minutes left to snatch victory. It wouldn't have mattered for us anyway as FC Adelaide won, but it was a didsappointing way to end such a promising league season.
And the referee only choosing to listen to one linesman, who was demoted from being linesman to a spectator :D
Kitchimo wrote: We started on fire in the As and were up 2-0 after about 20 minutes. The referee should have sent one of the Vipers boys off after a horrendous tackle which means our right winger misses the Cup Semi next week (thanks). The first half went for 52 minutes and Vipers scored in the 51st to have all the momentum. Our right back was sent off for a second yellow (clumsy challenge) about two minutes into the second half and we were up against it. I know our coach is Greek but it was like watching Euro 2004 all over again  Vipers scored with 16 minutes left on my clock, but then our 'keeper showed why he was promoted to the As halfway through the season and made some amazing saves (as well as copping a knee in the head, which forced his right eye to close over!). I don't think we got over the halfway line aside from goal kicks and one attacking free kick. Bad luck to Vipers, ecstasy for Salisbury Villa.

...That guy that ran on the pitch who supposedly initiated the fight is not affiliated with the vipers - first time I have seen him. Maybe he was a family member of a player who was just released from prison - I don't know.

...we just knew there would be somebody who would complain about the B's referee. That's why we paid for an neutral official to come down. Send any referee complaints to the SAASL please.

How would a keeper at the other end of the field see a push from behind with players facing in his direction? Even the player who was awarded the penalty walked away from it believing he had given away the free kick.
I know I am a cheeky little devil but has anyone seen Mike Hunt in the car park?

We were told by the C's captain it was the Vipers player's father. I can understand him wanting to protect his son but as I always think... (And this is in reply to a previous post about 30+ wanting to fight 18 year olds)...

I'm not condoning either side's behaviour (from where I stood in goals, it seems pretty well fought game) but if a player is giving a bit of lip, expect it back in return.

Not only did it end his season and cup dream, it's likely that it will end his 2010 campaign before it starts too (in only his second A Grade game). Well in to the bald defender at the back for jumping over the ball with one intention only (which was achieved).

I didn,t see the incident, however, the Vipers player you make ref to is prob in the mix for the Div 2 B&F IMO and

if you're remotely suggesting any type of deliberate intention then I'd be extremely suprised.....

Yeh, we gathered it was his father. Wasn't really a fight, just a bit of jest that brought about much laughter down the pub afterwards.

Yeh, our club has had a bit of a touchy history with that SAASL ref. Didn't mean to imply it was the vipers ref.

Feel for the bloke, and if that's the case wish him a speedy recovery.

We had one of our boys in the B's end up with three cracked ribs and two fractures in his wrist.
